1989 Gold Sovereign

For those who collect sovs and are knowledgeable about them - what is a reasonable retail price of a 1989 Anniversary Sovereign that you would realistically be willing to pay? I have an opportunity to buy a couple for resale, but they are high, so interested in judging sentiment.

They used to sell for about £900 on Ebay couple years ago

Looking now they're going for over £1000 sometimes

So off of Ebay, anywhere from like £850-900 is probably doing ok

I just saw this picture of a set that sold for £3000...  just no

This gives you an idea of what prices have been attained over the years from the 1989.  Steady upward demand when combined with current eBay sales data

Would these be + excessive auction fees or no?

As others have said, there is a current going rate which has been steadily increasing over the last few years. Whether the ones you have been offered are a good buy depends, obviously, on the price, but also what you plan to do with them.

All other things being equal, I would foresee a slowing down of any increase over the next few years. After that, who knows? All sorts of things can intervene to either increase or decrease demand. They are not rare so any decrease in demand should see a corresponding lowering of selling prices. Long term, they should do well though.

Would be my guess too

I think the other unique years like 02,05,12 will rise quicker in the meantime to become more in line with the 89 price wise
