dodgy sov? a or b on melbourne

found this for sale

one of those too good to be true moments

a half sovereign,melbourne mint 1908. looked it up in "marsh". im still new at this and would like a second opinion please.

i think it has the "a" type image and that it should have the "b"type to be correct?

i think the "m" looks mushy too

what do you think?

The Melbourne Mint only used reverse B which has B.P. this is the case here and the exergue line is close to the border, as it should be so looks like reverse B to me.

Not so sure about the mint mark.

Not a very rare date, so don't take any chances.

Well here’s a graded one, so perhaps compare the two.

I think the M is quite typical, but I’m not considering buying it.

Seller also has a 1888 listed as a half, when obviously a full. Not minted in Melbourne that year plus G&D.

This is a sov not a half.

i contacted the seller and asked for size and weight,they said will get back to me with that ,but have been told already that they ARE full sovereigns

folk seem to be bidding that way too

i was only interested because in MARSH it has a higher price for this in half sov
