@Keenstacker assuming your job is your real one you have already posted enough information for me to find out who you are and your home address etc simply by an internet search and if that doesn't suffice I just turn up where you work and ask a few 'innocent' questions about who you are. However, I hope like me you throw enough 'red herrings' in there to mean that info is actually meaningless. If not, best edit that post!

There's no need to class it as paranoid, it's simply common sense surely? There is a big poster on here who has been so laid back about things, despite likely hundreds of thousands of pounds of PMs within their reach at any one time being common knowledge all over the internet. With a 30 second google you can bring up their home address (you can then get a copy of their house deeds online), date of birth (with that you can order a copy of their birth certificate) and the same details for their spouse. Need I go on or really spell out what that might mean?

It depends to some extent on the value of the trade. A few silver proofs or a BUNC set, for a meet in public? Probably OK. But if a link is made to the fact you have far bigger stashes e.g. through here it's not worth the risk imho.

Keep online identities separate.

Doesn't matter - if I have your office address with a little effort I can find you and if I were a bad person (there are plenty about) you would have no choice but to give the rest of your stack up, wherever it's held.

Stand and deliver - your money or your life? No choice really is it?

Folk really are at the crossroads of wising up here (on here) I think/hope.

I may be an I may not, The nice about what I do is there is absolutely no information on where I live in our system and Because of the amount of "Friends" with there threats of violence and certain death I make on a nightly basis all personal information of employees is strictly cover by data protection and is never disclosed to anyone.including fellow employees. Of course, there are ways to access it but the average joe blogs would never get that kind of information. I completely get what you 're saying and I've learnt something today. I didn't take the precautions you mentioned because I don't have A huge valuable stack, I am selling the bulk of it on Monday. But for the future, i will take heed.

If you post PMs special delivery you need to supply an addess.

Here is one way to deliver a stack of gold bullion.

Of course the important thing is to maintain a siege mentality. Afraid of leaving the house? Desperately wishing you had a gun? Unprepared to converse with your neighbors? If not you're clearly not doing it right!!!

None of those things have been mentioned.

Your location says "land of the free" but your taking pounds?  I'm confused.

In the US anyway, I'd probably avoid this entire situation, but if I had to meet somewhere in public you can bet I'd be carrying (my Glock).

I'd probably make a good offer to a dealer I know well.  If he passes, he'd probably let me do the transaction at his office (way more secure, cameras, etc).

In a smaller town (or college campus), you run a bigger risk of people knowing you have PMs (and knowing who you are or where you live/work, etc).

This is a good example of knowing your local dealer imo.

Sounds like a good way to get yourself shot IMHO

Right, face to face PM sales with unknown people is definitely risky (which is why I'd be carrying).  Too much risk for me, I would rather avoid the entire situation.

If it went missing, they wouldn't be able to return it, surely?

Are you talking about Special Delivery?

I wouldn't send £500 of silver by anything but Special Delivery for which you have to give a return address.  So unless you put your work address, they are going to have your home address anyway.

Would you lie about your return address on the package?  What if it goes missing and they can't returm it to you?

Yes , I use different address for return and receiving items

not lie but you just won’t find me for security reasons

Same as fehk2001.

There are always ways and means.

I reckon anyone determined enough could still find you if they really wanted.

How many of you sell PMs on eBay?  Is your real address registered on there?  Any of your buyers can easily get hold of it.  You would be alerted to the fact they have got hold of it but what are you going to do, move house just in case?

Also I got to point out

if you use online postage from Royal Mail main web sites , you do not need to show your address on the label

the QR code will store your return address securely on the label only rm can read it if return address is required

No you do not need to show real address on eBay , you can use alt address

and also delivery u can add address , that’s including overseas address+ different name  on eBay

In my opinion without going batshit crazy and being overly paranoid if I were to do a F2F transaction I'd maybe take a friend or relative and maybe record it. But even if you do let a buyer know you're location unless you have multiple ebay listings simultaneously no one will have an idea of the true value/ quantity of your stack. Even if I told you I had so many ounces at such a location there may be someone willing to do so much to obtain it but I'd also be prepared to take appropriate measures to deter them. It's just alot better if we're all civil :)

Yes, I know that but I was wondering how many people didn't and also didn't realise that a buyer could easily get hold of it.

Probably 99.99% :D don’t know

also if I post eg you something from forum or receive something from you

your address will be automatic deleted from my system

If you send me something your return address on the package will be shredded after a week

just peace of mind for everyone security

add on : unless that’s your work address otherwise will be shredded
