Sunshine Mint 1oz Silver bar and box.

After hearing someone on the forum talking about how nice the sunshine mint 1oz silver bar was, i decided to buy one from Atkinsons and it is indeed a nice looking bar. I also bought a plastic box for them which holds 20 bars,i thought it would be nice to collect 20 of them and put them in the box. The problem is i cannot seem to bring myself to cut open the plastic sealed pouch it has come in thus exposing it to the air, not sure what to do for the best now.

The strips or tabs (there's a couple of sizes) work by absorbing the gases that cause tarnishing. I've seen positive reviews for 3M and Intercept brands: Lighthouse use the latter for their Quadrum capsules, suppposedly give 15 years protection...

You should be able to find either on eBay, Amazon.co.uk have the 3M ones and Cookson gold stock Intercept.

I think air tite sell a rectangle tube for 1oz bars for bars in capsules, and the rectangle capsules themselves.

Thanks Chris, but i don't think i will bother putting them in airtights, i will eventually put them in the square tube i have , maybe when i have 20 so they don't rattle about. They are just bullion, i am trying hard not to get attached to things.not easy though :D .

I wouldn't worry too much about toning  , I just got a 1995 maple  which was a goldy /tone    bit of goddards silver polish(stinks vile)  and its come up like new   , and the britts are summat else  with the goddards on em

fellow stacker   good friend    if I was a collector  I wouldn't dream of using polish  but as its only used generic I don't see the harm   if keeping a coin in a toned state for 19 years adds to its value  then ive just polished my profit away

SmokeS have you seen the similar setup that PAMP suisse have?

It's a rather rugged looking box that will hold 25 of these little beauties.

I shal be stacking 25 of the 1oz fortuna bars before moving on to another size or design the rose looks good too.

This settup does have the advantge of the bars fitting snggly into he box with the similar assay card size.
