BU Rwanda Rooster Mintage?

I believe the mint will strike this coin from 1st December 2016 until 31st December 2017 but has anyone seen mintage figures so far.  They are carrying a hefty premium and even the Bu Dog has increased lately to around €24.50/€25.

I have bought probably too many of these if they end up in the hundreds of thousands.

Nope, and you never will see a mintage figure. The people behind the Rwandan series, whoever they are!, don't feel they need to. And dealers are not interested, they are content with the premium levels right where they are.

Back when the other Rwanda "African ounce" series went unlimited mintage i asked the same question in light of what i felt were quite hefty premiums over spot for an unlimited and undeclared mintage. All i got was some heated and very defensive replies from a couple of German dealers (not active on here i should say). They shot down any notion that being unlimited should reduce the premium. Their only argument being "look at how past issues have performed over the years", and "they may be unlimited but they won't come anywhere near the mintages of, say, Perth stuff".

There is no doubt for me, the current lunar and nautical series are exploding with interest from buyers old and new, and mintages will pass those of the african wildlife. Could the premiums be somewhat lower? That is for each and everyone to ask themselves before buying in bulk. I don't argue premium with the buggers anymore, no point. Happy to have just a couple of them myself because i rate them highly as well designed coins.
