Snipping your post just to respond to a few points made to focus in on, hope that's OK :)

The following is all imvho!

I don't think the series is in danger at all, they'll always have a market, I think the point is what premium you can expect to retain/improve upon. The 2016 and 2017 were lovely, delicate designs, while being bold as well. The 2018 is a real 'wtf' (not necessarily in a bad way - certainly not for me - I like it!) so they have disrupted the series more than ever before. I think to pull that back next year has to be more traditional - another outlandish coin will send everyone looking to everything pre-2018 (perhaps only temporarily, we'll see).

Cheap, well-minted and capsulated - I absolutely agree! However I've heard of a milk spot on a 1oz and @BackyardBullion had a 10oz I believe was delivered spotted from Goldsilber - I've never heard of this before on Kooks full-stop, let alone 'new' coins (but again I am a relative newbie so stand to be corrected!).

I don't think you can go too far wrong on the dog privy if you get it at a decent price :)

No problem at all, a good number of my posts could do with editing down tbh, chop chop ;)

Ahh i see, you meant future premiums being in danger. I misunderstood.

I too have read lots of complaints about spotting over the years. I believe it can and does happen of course, i have just never had it happen on mine since i started buying new, year on year (1oz or 10oz). And so far so good, still none on them when i sometimes check back through recent years. I did find one on a 2oz 2008 i bought a couple years back, but some weeks had gone by after receiving it before i looked properly so i had to let it slide. How i wish the 2oz versions were still going too! The most perfect weight and size imo.

There you go, my first 2oz Kook and the last in the series I believe

My first slab and its a Kook. I might like the Kooks more than I know. Got this on an ebay deal that someone posted on youtube.

The high reliefs are very nice. I have one of the 2013. I learned that it's impossible to see just how impressive these are in photos, until you get to hold one and move it around.

Edit: same with the Somalia elephant high reliefs - stunning. But sadly highly prone to milk spots, which for high premium proofs is a disgrace. Had to give up on those.

I have never warmed to the application of colours to bullion designs, especially non-mint issued. But i'll admit to sometimes admiring the occasional one from afar. Stumbled across this colourised 2018 kook and it's really very nicely done. Credit where it's due.

I wouldn't buy it myself, but right you are - credit where it's due and that's a work of art :)
