@sovereignsteve got the answer.

About to order my first 1kg gold bar tipping me over the 100oz mark.

I know logically it makes more sense to buy a load of sovs or 1oz coins but the opportunity to grab a 1kg bar is few and far between + I have the sovs and 1oz's allready.

Will make an awesome fondling piece :)

As usual my bank were useless.

Tried to pay online, no go amount too much.

Ring the telephone number that pops up to process my request, the number is dead.

Ring the general helpline, cant process the request as my registered mobile number with them is only 2 years old despite answering every security correctly.

Get put through to another number and they cant process my request as I have only registered for online my banking not phone banking (they sent me details 5 years ago but never used)

In the end had to go to branch in town center with all my I.D and got the transfer processed there.

Every time I deal with my bank for any significant sum of money it just re-enforces my belief that its much better in my hands than theirs.  They seem to forget the cash sitting in my account is mine and not theirs.

Banks are just so bad at customer service these days it is unreal, glad you got it sorted eventually :)

Aside from bills and day to day expenses. Keep cash out of the banks

To add a little info, Most people think that when they deposit money into a bank - that such money continues to belong to them (and not to the bank).

This assumption is wrong.

The legal position of a depositor was settled as long ago as in 1848 - in the court case of Edward Thomas Foley vs Thomas Hill.

This case determined that depositors are unsecured creditors.

In plain English this means that when you deposit your money at a bank - it becomes the possession of the bank, and that you have effectively become an investor in that business.

The bank-customer relationship of debtor and creditor provides that a bank does not have a continuous obligation to account for its decisions as to how it uses depositors' money.

In general , unsecured creditors, such as depositors of a bank, will have very little redress to recover their debts if a company is put into liquidation.

The interests of the depositor, as a creditor, are secondary to the interests of shareholders as a whole

In the end I also went for a Baird & Co cast bar.

Logic being they are the UK's largest precious metal refiner and they make their own bars.

In my mind the risk of receiving a gold/tungston sandwich bar should be significantly lower buying diretly from the refiner that makes them  rather than buying a bar through a 3rd party.

Just waiting on delivery now
