Another nice delivery from BBP today unfortunately not coins this time 😭 but coin related 😃
Again I would highly recommend these wooden box’s from them, good quality and only £20 delivered.
It gives me a nice target to hit filling both box’s. Only need to find a bullion 1902 Sovereign to complete the Edward head date run and then another 5 Sovs to fill the box’s 😃

    Two beautiful coins today...
a 1911 Proof sovereign, that I won at the tail end of a random auction, hazy and difficult to judge, has come back beautiful, in a very high grade, very special and one of my favourite portraits:

And below is a true rarity, a Henry VIII 1544-47 Half Sovereign in what I think is superb condition considering its age. Doesn’t currently demand the attention of its larger brother of the same era or certainly the Henry VII Sovereign, but this is the first ever half sovereign. My thanks to @richatthecroftfor being a sounding board and supporting me during the purchase of this coin. Ive gone from tears to jubilation, certainty to uncertainty and back again many times and no doubt driven him slightly crazy 😂 EDIT: for those interested there is clearly a Pellet in Annulet on both sides, putting it at the Tower Mint and either type 2294 or 2295 from my reading of Spink (I'm not sure if I see a annulet on the inner ring of the obverse at 11o'clock or not, if there is then its 2295)

Received this very nice 1926 Melbourne sovereign, an Australian eBay purchase.
Mintage that year was only 211,107.

This just landed on my doorstep (thanks @Jaconet. Pretty much all of my collection consists of QE2 era modern sovereigns/Britannia’s so wanted to have a little diversification and add 4 or 5 QV young heads in good grades and this is the 1st addition, definitely fits the bill. Only 1 grade higher than MS64+ in this in this variation. Also the fact that there were no London sovereigns minted in 1882 makes it all the better. Definitely a keeper long term

Saw this the other day and couldn't resist adding a small bit of the legendary Bullion coin to the stack! More excited about being less than a gram away from the first oz now though

Received yesterday, not through the post and a little bitter sweet really.
Definiately the most treasured of my gold, a small, dainty, 1930’s gold ring.
The reason why it will be the most treasured is that it’s my great-grandmothers wedding ring.
A symbol of a love now long gone but one I’ll always wear and pass onto the next generation.

Today I received two awesome bits to add to my newly started stack,
the first being a lovely 2oz Silver lunar dragon purchased from motorbikez on here.  I think the coin is beautiful and is in excellent condition, I’m absolutely chuffed with it.

and my second item which arrived today was a awesome James Bond 1oz Silver bar which I was lucky to purchase before he ran out I got it from jamesd on here also.

I couldn’t fault either of the sellers if I tried, both had it packaged Thursday night awaiting payment Friday morning, and both came a day later

Received over the last several weeks- ironically, mostly sourced in the USA- a nice example of each denomination of circulated Bronze coinage from 1902.
A bit of a labour of love, and I have sourced these to go alongside my 1902 Edward VII Coronation Gold & Silver Proof Set, as there weren't any Proof Bronze coinage produced that year.  I have the 'High Tide' type of the Penny and Halfpenny but a 'Low Tide' type was minted however, these examples can run into several hundred pounds each, and frankly, I wasn't that committed to invest so heavily in Bronze coins.
For those not familiar with Bronze coinage, the Farthing was chemically 'Blackened at Mint' to help prevent the Farthing being passed off as a Sovereign.  There were apparently, some escapee's!
The Third Farthing is also interesting.  It is the smallest coin issued by Edward VII and although pretty consistent for Victoria coinage, it was made for only one year for Edward VII- 1902.  A Farthing was 960 to the pound therefore, there were 2880 Third Farthing's to a Pound.  Although legal tender and used in Great Britain, they were mainly made for use in Malta and Ceylon where the cost of living was much less.  The mintage of the Third Farthing was a tiny 288,000 and for those who are keeping up, that equates to just 100 Pounds worth of this denomination being minted!
