100g Hallmarked Silver Forum Branded Investment Bars

I wanted to start a new thread for the 100g silver forum bars so that people will see it better and to keep it separate from the 1oz bars thread.

Now, the 100g bars are a slightly different animal to the 1oz bars. Making 171+ 100g bars is a little bit of a dream come true and honestly is a mintage and result I did think we would even get close to! Originally we envisaged making 50x 1oz bars so to have 171+ is a bit bonkers.

As to 100g versions of the bars, my original plan was to make half the mintage in 100g bars, so x25 but this seems way too low. I was thinking around the 100 mark for these bars would be a great mintage.

So this thread is firstly to gauge the level of interest so we can start planning the mintage for these bars.

At this stage we are not taking reservations for serial numbers. We do not know what the mintage will be and we also do not have a system in place to fairly allocate them and/or look to match existing serial numbers of the 1 oz TSF bars.

What is clear in my mind is that we are not going to make the same number of 100g bars to 1oz bars - which brings up an important topic about serial numbers and those people who have a high 1 oz bar number might not be able to get a matching serial number in 100g form.

How we resolve this I don't know and I am open to suggestions.

We have yet to make even a prototype of this 100g bar and that is the next order of business. I have literally just taken delivery of a new, bigger furnace which will be able to pour these 100g bad boys and we are also in the process of getting a bigger "TSF Logo" made to use for these larger bars. I would imagine it will be about 4-5 weeks before we even have a prototype to show. Also, we do not currently have a price in mind, it will depend on a number of factors including but not limited to, price of the silver I can source, estimated costs of production (e.g. melting crucibles, COA's, Bags etc.), Hallmarking - I will probably be putting a choice out for the community to vote on, same small hallmark or to pay +£2 per bar extra for a larger hallmark. Hopefully we can keep the costs on a similar scale to the 1oz bars and also offer similar discounts to Premium and Gold Premium members.

So, let me know here if you would be interested and also whether you would be interested in 1, 2 or more of these bars etc.

Also, let me know if you have any ideas on how to sort out the serial numbers issue I highlighted above.

This is simply a gauge level of interest type thread to see what kind of demand and mintage might be needed.

However there is an exception with regards serial numbers 1 & 2. I think it is only fair to @ChrisSilver and myself to have first dibs on No.1 & No.2 in any series we make. :)

I'd be interested in one mate. As regards the serial number, my 1oz bar is in the 80's but I'm not that bothered if you end up making less and I can't get the same number. It would be nice but not essential. Although what do you do if everyone that has the 1oz wants the 100g bar?

Thanks for the feedback!

If I have to make 200x 100g bars then I will be a very very very very busy man indeed...

Honestly though, I would prefer to cap the mintage at say 100. Future years may have more as I expand my business and we expand the forum and the demand goes up. 2017 releases might appreciate as a collectors item better then :)

Potential interest here. You do realise that after this version, the next one has to be either 250 or 300, then 500 and finally a 1kg......then you really would be a mint........it would be quite the journey.......

I wouldn't offer a choice of serial numbers with these BYB.

For a start, I see clashes.

To add some 'exclusivity', limit the mintage and deliver random serial nos. If you buy a proof from the Mint, you cannot choose your number :)

This is where the Registry could be a success and create a secondary market.

i.e. 'Ooh, I like these bars....damn they're sold out grrr...

Wait, there is a registry? ooh....I wonder if #56 is for sale..? Aha!

Dear *****., I see you are the owner of #56. Is it for sale or trade?'

Sorry for the puerile example, but I'm trying to make sense! :D

Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

I think they should be hallmarked, keeping with the 1oz bars. The hallmark on the 1oz bars was a lot smaller than expected, a little bit larger hallmark might be nice as it's easier to see.

In regards to serial numbers, and
In the interest of fairness to keep things simple maybe it's best to not take reservations for numbers on the 100g bars but to just send them out as per order. So when you are ready, you could make a sales topic and then allocate the numbers in the order of who orders. So members placing an order earlier get an earlier serial number.

That's what I am thinking. 1oz, 100g, 250g, 500g and a kilo. But the larger sizes there probably wouldn't be much interest at the prices BYB can produce them for, as they are premium bars. But perhaps we could get a few 250g's made. It's an awesome size.

I am certainly interested in these and whilst I would love the same numbers I got for the 1oz bars I fully appreciate this might not be possible. I am up for 1 or 2 depending when these come out and would be happy to pay extra for the hallmarking.

i would be interested in two bars again. i would like the same numbers again.

Previously it was first come first served for numbers. This time i would advertise a deadline. If you place an order before the deadline you can have your previous number as long as that number was less than the number of orders placed before the deadline [which you won't know until the deadline]. In general people like lower numbers so if your first number was 132 and you are offered 42 in this 100g series, very few will be other than pleased.

If you get 60 bars ordered before the deadline, people with a previous bar number of 60 or less will get their numbers again. The remaining customers have a choice of the remaining numbers under 60 based on who ordered first this time. So i would start taking a time ordered list of pre-orders now

After the deadline it is first come first choice of the serial numbers over 60.
