NGC Grading Submissions Open

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be good to get both the mirrored and frosted gaps verions graded, not so much to try and get a perfect grade but to clearly indicate the difference. so wont be a money maker (not at a 69 anyway lol) but they are for my personal collection so happy with that :)

i always think 69 is a brilliant grade not much difference at all between that and a 70, depends if the graders have had a good coffee break, numi doesnt always get 70's even regal stacker doesnt, and he is as fussy as hell on his grading....i got a load of 69 and very pleased with the results....regards

Thats because grading isn't a science, it's a matter of opinion of 2 or 3 graders, we are only at their mercy every submission

For $25 you can also submit coins yourself into NGC London which are then forwarded to the USA, it’s not a difficult process. Once you become a member at the lowest tier level

It's certainly not difficult, although Numi knows of (or is on the look out) for varieties etc I believe.

Are NGC London insured both ways for loss do you know?

I have been trying to get some clarification on the status of modern gold for conservation from NGC and have been lobbying.

In relation to NGC UK this is the statement we can work with “Modern Gold Coins (Such as your recent submission) up to £1,500 each qualify for the Modern NCS + Grading tier. If the coin is modern and gold but over £1,500 and up to £2,500 it would qualify for the NCS Gold + Grading.”

I am also obtaining clarification from NGC USA for NCS Modern Gold there.

By the way if anyone wants specifically submissions via NGC UK they should let me know as this is now something I will be doing regularly.

NGC UK is insured both ways and can also be quicker but is a little more expensive for some tiers and much more expensive for others.

I uploaded a comparison for Germany and USA pricing somewhere in here, although Germany/Munich are now grading on-site, so I only have to wait a week for returns which I pick up as they are in the centre of the city.

I have just received confirmation from NGC USA that exactly the same applies to NGC UK.  More specific gold coins with a value of under $2000 can continue to be graded under the modern tier but  more expensive gold coins need to be graded under the gold specific tier.

So this effectively means business as usual and no real change and is good news for those of us who want to grade Modern proofs.

I assume they charge in £s yet ship to America?

Yes they charge in £ and ship to USA. At some future point they are considering  on site grading in the UK for Special occasions and when I was there the other day the Munich graders were in London preparing for the Munich grading.

When to ask me to submit via NGC UK

Most submissions I receive do not state a preference so I choose to submit them via NGC USA  however so far a couple of you have specifically asked me to submit to NGC UK so I wanted to let the rest of you know why you MAY want to select specifically NGC UK for submissions.

Speed

Usually the estimated in-house time from submission to collection is about 30 days via NGC UK as ALL submissions are expedited even value tier and NCS.

Insurance

NGC UK provide both ways insurance (NGC USA submissions are insured only for the return)

Cost

Regular grading services work out a few pounds more expensive generally with NGC UK and NCS conservation can be up to £8 per coin more expensive with NGC UK. Some specialist services are more expensive with NGC UK but this can be worth it (see both points above).

SO - Please include a request for NGC UK submission in the envelope with the coins if you DO want your coins specifically submitted via NGC UK rather than USA direct submissions.
