Does anyone here have good success with 925 sterling making them into bars

@Pipers I have had a go at pouring 925 silver bars. I have made 15 so far over 3 90 minute sessions. I will post some pics at some point. They are pretty cool, look really nice! Not as easy to work with as it seems to be with 999 silver weigh around 20g.

Why is it more difficult?   I have quite a lot of sterling and i was thinking of pouring them myself, maybe getting them stamped at an assay office. I work within the engineering industry so i can use Oxy acetyline  rather than oxy propane.  I understand for heating generally propane is used, i just was thinking if acetyline and have the torch closer would be better.

Tpbullion i look forward to your pics!

@Pipers from the videos I have watched, its seems .999 silver is easier to work with than the .925 that I have been using. Also .925 tarnishes quite easy compared to the .999 I am still very much a novice and learning alot still as I go along. I use MAPP gas and a BURNZOMATIC torch. I intend on getting a furnace at some point soon am able to keep the metal hotter for longer and also larger quantities of silver. Great fun though. Pictures to follow.

Today I made a pair of Pyramids as a custom order - so they are not for sale, but look awesome nonetheless!

If you want one just let me know!

Finished up this awesome heart today.

One of my favourite pieces I have ever made. If I could keep it I would, but it is a custom order for an 80th birthday!

So I decided to make a little special heart for my mum for mother’s day. It is the first time I have tried sand casting and I don’t think it’s that bad, I used the very first coin I ever purchased, a 1 oz 2011 silver maple, I made everything myself, I over poured on the silver heart but a bit of sanding and filing down solves that problem, I designed and carved the wooden heart for the mould, I also made the wooden box for it to go in (I know my woodworking skills aren’t the best ?) I did try and stamp “mum” on the little bit of wood in the box, but you couldn’t really tell what it said so I had to use a last minute black pen ? but she said she loved it, but she might not of wanted to hurt my feelings ?
