just ordered mine from the royal mint bullion.         they must have changed policies and dont now have to use passport/utility bill to authenticate account. so just signed up, but of a faf pre funding account before buying, luckily i put a bit extra in because price went up between funding and paying.

So - a question to that select group - I think so far is @morezone @Cornishfarmer @Oldun: with both a QB Lion and a QB Griffin  side by side, which do you like more?? 

I am going to get some Griffins for sure, but so far from pics I prefer the Lion. Tough choice though...bring on the greyhound or the next animal.

@Lindeman they are both very nice coins. Struck well and defined compared to the Brits, if I had to pick one it would be the lion because of the shield design. But the condition of the lion isn't good. Still bitter with atkinsons for sending a coin in such poor condition

They would have but I would have paid shipping both ways I expect so would have added £15 to cost and they said if it was exchanged with couldn't guarantee that it wasn't in same condition.

For anyone who will be looking for the 1/4 ounce gold griffin graded MS70 - I have positive confirmation from Paradise mint that they will have some mid January.  Do not know what the price will be at this point - but as soon as I find out I will let everyone know - I will definitely be picking one up.

Just wanted to say that Atkinsons has some more ¼ Oz t Lion Queen's Beast on their website. I spotted them last week, they reverted to out-of-stock over the weekend, but got a phone call yesterday from them telling me they were back on sale.

Yes, I have bought mine before telling you, and no, I am not ashamed.

Just received the gold proof lion.  Absolutely a beatiful coin.  Much better looking than the pictures.  Definitely happy with the expensive purchase.

Those are A size air-tites with T size foam rings cut down to fit the A cap. Should really be T caps with T rings but I'm using A caps where possible.

Yeah I have the 1/4oz gold bullion lion and have just ordered the 2oz silver griffin. I'm still debating the 1/4oz griffin I just wanted to see what others thought of the quality in person.

I had ordered a chocolate gold coin from Atkinsons and got a ¼ oz. Lion as well as a ¼ oz. Griffin on the side.

Sure, the chocolate coin was expensive, but it was a nice touch to get the other two.

 

By the by, Atkinsons seems to have received another load of ¼ oz. QB Lions. I thought these had been sold out, but this is the second re-stock at Atkinsons that I have noticed since December (I had missed on the ¼ oz Lion and was hunting for it). They even sell them again by the tube of 25.

Sure the premium is hefty, but I am going for the full collection and hold them as "family gold", i.e. to be sold only when in serious need. They look even nicer in one's hand than on the photos. Last year some people complained about the quality of the ¼ oz Lion, maybe I got lucky but mine looks great.

@creative: If you have started the collection... well... you know what you need to do!

What issue did you have with the 1st one?

I'm guessing there was no padded protection with the replacement.  Just thrown into a mailer?

First one was scratched on the queens face and little dots on her neck ,

return they put them into a single padded envelop and  use dhl to deliver
