Day 169,

Started to mainly just put notes in every 3-4 days and ticking off 3-4 at a time instead if going to shop and breaking notes for change every night. Have gathered up around 32 plastic fivers so far, the taxi drivers give them to me in change :) . Have not bothered counting, too lazy. Hows is everyone else doing?

As my wife and I had a target of around £1k each, we have started just putting in £20 a week and ticking off 7 days. Approaching halfway now so there should be around £900 in there at the moment, mostly in £20 notes as we swap them for change when we need it.

My wife says she is just going to keep/save it and maybe keep it going as we're building an extension this year and she doesn't like the thought of a nearly empty bank account. I shall still be buying the biggest lump of gold I can afford with mine :)

The only trouble with this atm is, you save.. but then the price of gold keeps going up in the meantime

Would it be better to buy a sovereign every time you hit the mark?

I am starting to get that feeling now, i could get the 3x 1/4oz queens beasts and start a wee collection. But the thought of getting the 1oz keeps me going :)

Wondering how many people are still on board and how big @Paul's box has become.

Good idea.

I throw all my coinage into a bucket at the end of every day. Sometimes it is a few pence other times it can be as much as £15 (usually when I've had a night out as I tend to only pay with notes in bars).

It soon mounts up, I must have nearly £200 in my bucket since the start of the year.

I'm still in. But can't say with how much. I just throw the pocket change on the table and on sunday I tick of 7 boxes. But I might be on a personal minus, because stared to remove the coinage that will stop being valid in june.

Im kinda doing the same. A the minute, change goes in then i use it to swap out change for notes for vending machines at work and then just add £20 at the end of the week and tick off 7 boxes.

I will start another one of these on the 1st of June in a few weeks and will swap it from being the gold fund to the holiday fund :) I will continue with this one until September.

Still going strong. Have cleared it from all the now old money that is not legal tender anymore.

Forgot how much it was, around 5300SEK. That is £453 more or less.

I have a wood and leather treasure chest FULL of 1p and 2p coins, some of it is uncirculated baggies from the post office, haha. I went through a brief copper phase for the fun of playing with fistfuls of it. Now the nephews play treasure hunt with it using tiny versions of the chests.

My wife and I have been saving into a shared pot and just counted it all out last weekend, coming in at £1900.

I had always planned to buy gold with my half and was leaning toward a Mexican 50 peso, however since starting this scheme we decided to put an extension on the house which is now complete and we're about £35k lighter  So looking at my savings account makes my eyes water at the moment and I'm not sure if I can splash cash on gold right now... I keep looking though.

Look on the bright side, your new extension has already added the equivalent of many ounces of gold to your property.
