I have been pondering what I will buy with my savings at the end of the year. I might use it to pay my mother rent for the following year, it solves one problem.

End of first week results for me are : £22 and change

I gonna use Sunday as check-up date. So the first one will be bigger.

I have followed the plan, and on Sunday I have added all the leftovers. So far 10 days 1 SEK/day. Sunday today so the rest of my cash goes in, another 15SEK.

So a total of £2,25. My can looks very empty at the moment :S

I really miss Swedish money, having spent 6 months in Linkoping I grew very fond of the notes you have, especially the 100SEK.

You will have enough for a kilo bar of gold at this rate Paul!

I found a £1 and a 2p in the car - had to leave the quid alone because we need it for the shopping trolly at Aldi but I banked the 2p lol.

If you want to catch @Paul you can put a 20 euro cent coin in your trolley at Aldi and then take a quid of the next person....... (only joking?!?)

Haha I only just learned about this trick recently when I offered my quid to someone taking their trolley back - they refused to swap because they had a token in theirs! I was impressed by the honesty at the time, but now I think about it, perhaps it was more a reflection of how worthless the currency was after Brexit lol.

Im in also, only getting round to getting a pic done now.

Started on the 10th in my jagger tin, been waiting to use this for something. I am just adding extra rule of adding £2 when received in change and kick started it with a fiver i had in my pocket. Gonna aim for a 1/2 oz brittannia. I already use my change for other stuff so thats why i will not really be adding more.

Most of you guys are gonna end up like me at the shops like when the cashier says £9.52, my 1st reaction is to get gum, rolling papers are a champ bar just to get past that £10 mark to get extra change. I went 1 whole year doing this and saving ALL change around 08-09. That means you've just won the jackpot at the local pubs fruit machine and to buy your crisps with a note and carry the change all night. I amassed just around £2930, i remember being pissed that i didn't hit £3000 but it was a hell of a holiday all the same :)

Fantastic way to save and i think i do deserve a little piece gold, every boy does.

It would be cool if there was an app that would allow you to tick off the days as you go. But unfortunately I can't find anything.

Would also be cool if I could somehow make a section on the forum with this, and then members can tick off their own sheets as they go, and also a way to share the sheet with other users if they wish, but I can't find a suitable solution that wouldn't require some custom programming work form a developer.

My posts are my personal opinions, they do not constitute advice or financial advice.

Day off from work today so been in Blue Peter mode making and being creative, making myself a mega money box.

I am doing this saving challenge to the 'extreme'

I am doing the basic challenge with £1 added each day

I am adding every extra hour worked, I am going to volunteer whenever extra hours on on offer within reason

All my every unexpected cash is going in

My initial storage would soon be full so i now have have a 10" inch high money box.  9" inches wide and 13th inch long.

Its bigger than a casino drop-box, I think this will be sufficient for the year (hopefully!)  :)

I've now got my "bigger boat"

Up to £11.26 so far. Have sorted makeshift stroopwaffel tin and am going random rather than sequential. However much I am able to put in, I cross out. If I've already crossed that figure out I move one number down at a time until there's in I haven't crossed. That way I should end up with at least the £667.95 but hopefully a fair bit more.

Since my wife knows about this and finds it highly amusing I am in doubt whether it will go on silver or gold at the end of the 12 months.... [emoji38]

Here is a TSF 365 Day Savings Sheet.

I have added some bonus boxes, these boxes can be used randomly, or there is enough to use one per week + some additional.

thats the way im doing it as well . and if i stick in more than the highest box left on my sheet i just tick off the highest unticked box left . over £60 already .

Because I hardly ever spend any cash between Sunday-Friday, I'm having issues actually having any change for the pot day to day. I've had to do a bit of personal QE to stimulate my money supply by taking cash out of an ATM just to donate to my tin. Although in my case the QE is actually trickling down to the wider economy as I have to buy something I don't need to get change.

Janet, take note.

Good stuff, generating some M1 monetary supply to do your bit for inflation then turning whats left back into M2 - inspirational! :P

I did a similar thing, I could not find that quid I left in the car for the trolley at ALDI, so had to ask the chap at the till to break my emergency tenner open. Now I have an emergency fiver, 4 quid in the pot and a quid in the car again lol.

Week 2 over with now and into week 3

Ive lost track of specifics what has gone in but off the top of my head, x2 grey hounds wins from last Sat night 3/1 and 4/1 winners, extra hours at work, darts hustlings, a domino card win, a half decent bandit win, the full minimum weekly contributions have gone in with extras whatever was in my pocket at end of the day, a few new fivers came my way have gone in and a few odd £2 coins so they went in to.  My money box is filling nicely

Extra shifts booked in for next week already so next week will be good before it starts

I think you're going against the spirit of this challenge @Paul

Yeah, you have a good point there Steve.

My mind wandering away on extremes again.  I can never ever settle for basic and oridnary

Think what you say is best and be in keeping with my original first post

Certainly put a rocket up my arse this thread has.

Galvanised me into scrapping some xtra cash together. Old mobile in the drawer flogged. The wii u nobody users anymore. All the loose change in various pots around the house. Am a couple of hundred up allready.would have been £500 more if  forest hadnt lost in the last min. 7/8 up in an Acca.

Livid.

Done nothing but think about saving since reading this, which is very unlike me.
