I was looking at the headers in the forum emails that I was sent on an notification

X-SmarterMail-Spam: SpamAssassin -3 [raw: -1], SPF_Pass, DK_None, DKIM_None

If you can, try setting up DKIM.. All the major ESP use it for validating email addresses

If you look at this guide here : http://mailchimp.com/about/authentication/

You can see see that a lot of the ESP (Email Service Providers) - Take into account whether or not it's DKIM signed. 

You can also send a blank email to mailtest@unlocktheinbox.com or check-auth@verifier.port25.com and it will point out any other issues.
