Enabling 2FA - RECOMMENDED SECURITY

We recommend that you enable two factor authentication from your account. 2FA is totally optional, however we recommend you to enable it to protect your account. 

Important: Please FIRST make sure your email address is valid and correct before enabling 2FA, email is the only means that your account can be unlocked in the event you loose the ability to reset with 2FA

The below are the instructions of how to enable 2FA on your account

1. You will need to download the Google Authenticator app first here:

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en_GB


2. Then please visit this your TSF account security settings here: https://thesilverforum.com/settings/account-security/ 


3. Scan the QR code as instructed and enter the code. Store the backup somewhere safe. 

Use the app to generate a code every time the system asks you and enter this code in.

Important: Please FIRST make sure your email address is valid and correct BEFORE enabling 2FA, email is the only means that your account can be unlocked in the event you loose the ability to reset with 2FA. If your email is incorrect we can not identify you and therefore will be unable to unlock your account, you must make sure that your email is correct and up to date. After enabling 2FA you will only be able to reset your email by using the 2FA or by emailing us from the linked email account. 


Once you have 2FA enabled you will require to enter a code for the following:

  • Changing email address 
    The user will also need to re-enter their password.
  • Logging into from a new device
  • Managing Authorised Devices
  • Updating two-factor authentication setup 
    The user will also need to re-enter their password.
  • Changing password 
    The user will also need to re-enter their current password.
  • Managing addresses
  • Managing alternative contacts
  • Editing personal billing information



TSF already requires members to use strong passwords, this password should be a unique password. Enabling 2FA will add additional security to your account. We strongly recommend all members to enable 2FA for account security.

We also recommend setting up unique passwords/biometric security on all of your devices especially those with access to your email.

Following on from this please make sure your email address is secure and ideally with some sort of 2FA on your email account itself, e.g. 2FA that requires you to put in a code received via SMS (linked to a contract sim incase you loose it) to gain access to your email account from a new device. As your email account is ultimately your key to TSF please keep access to it secure.
