Silver Maple price variation

Hello.

Dancing around the madness on eBay recently I came across and put starting bids on a 1994 and a 2007 silver Maple. Got them for £19 each which is a ways over the current spot price but seemed okay against the average dealer prices. My question is, why are some years such as these more costly from dealers than others? As they are modern bullion coins I was surprised to see the same year coins I bought advertised for £30+ each on BBP whereas others are £20+.

I picked up a nice 2019 silver Eagle for £19.72 near the same time, which seems cheaper than what the American dealers are charging in the US. It's a funny old game I've come across here. Glad I found this forum, hopefully help me avoid some miss steps!

Welcome to the forum Liam

Firstly BBP silver is always very expensive compared to most other dealers for silver IMO, and in these uncertain times most dealers have increased there premiums on silver coins. Also mintage of certain years can be a factor.

With ebay these auctions only end with what people are willing to pay. I still buy from ebay from time to time as can pick up some nice finds.ive picked up some cracking good deals in the last week👍 All i would say Is make sure u test the coins as soon as u get them i still test everything as I've been stung in the past. Older and wiser now 😆

Thanks for the tip. Apart from checking the dimensions, weight and magnetism is there anything else I can do without owning specific kit?

Something else; the American Silver Eagle has a more 'matte' finish to it than the Maple Leaf coins and my 2020 Brittania's. Looks right against pictures on the internet but pictures can be deceptive. Is that a common finish for these coins? Slightly off my own topic but only just...😁

£20 for a maple which was £14/15 on gsbe last month and silver spot has fallen is a crazy price!  Simply due to supply issues let it die down

Whoops! At least I joined up here before buying any more and thinking I was doing okay...🤪 Lots of hyped info from various sources saying about the spot price being decoupled from physical reality doesn't help, reading the differing opinions on here is an eye opener.
