1oz Perth Mint Platinum Platypus last year of production

Recommended Posts

Minted by Perth Mint, Australia. Introduced in 2011 to replace the Platinum Koala, which was discontinued in 2008.

Does anyone know the last year they minted the Perth Mint Platinum Platypus? And what platinum coin from Perth Mint (if any) replaces this?

The Australian Platypus was discontinued in 2017 and was replace by the Australian Platinum Kangaroo coin.

I’ve been thinking about adding platinum off and on now to my stack/collection since I first started stacking/collecting precious metals. I can find no real reasons why I shouldn’t diversify to a third precious metal such as platinum.

I have some, the thing is platinum is not as easy to sell and the dealer prices are very poor.  It's a long game.
