Due to the ongoing and fast changing situation around coronavirus (COVID-19) we wanted to provide further information regarding the impact on The Royal Mint and what this means for you as a customer.

Overall, we are currently seeing an unprecedented level of demand across all of our Precious Metal product ranges. This increase is having an impact on despatch and customer service waiting times, however, we are working to increased capacity to meet the operational requirements whilst limiting the impact on customer delivery and wait times.

Stock Levelsamber.png

Although some of our ranges are currently out of stock, we still have a good inventory of many coins and bars. The current list of products that are in stock and ready to purchase can be seen on this page which is regularly updated throughout the day. If the product which you are looking for is out of stock, there is also the functionality to ‘notify me’ on the product page. This will send you an email when the product is available for purchase again. To replenish our inventory across our ranges, we are also currently striking replacement coins and bars as required.

green.pngDelivery

Our teams are working around the clock to fulfill any outstanding orders and The Royal Mint is currently dispatching products and orders as normal. Although this is the case, due to the increased volumes which we are seeing, despatch times are currently around 5 working days for gold items and 3 working days for any silver items. We are regularly liaising with our external courier companies who have assured us that the service is still running as expected. We will update this page should this change.

green.pngVaulting

To provide additional options for customers, we now allow the option to vault any product in our secure on-site storage facility. Previously, only tubes of coins and larger bars were available for vault storage but we have now lifted these restrictions and any product, regardless of size, can be stored in the Vault. Once your order is placed and your product is stored in the Vault, you can sell it back to us at the live precious metal price (minus applicable fees) or take delivery to your registered address as normal. Please note, for vaulted products, storage fees are charged at our standard rates which are detailed on our ‘fees’ page.

amber.pngBuy backs

If you are looking to sell an item that you have stored at home, we are currently still accepting buy-backs from customers. As there is no change to our assay service, items will be processed as soon as possible once they are received although there may be a slight delay due to the increased volume. As this service involves couriers delivering items to our drop-off location, there may be additional delays that are outside of our control. Our customer service team will be able to provide an update on the current timescales when you request a quotation.

green.pngSell backs

If you choose to sell your item back to The Royal Mint which is currently stored in The Vault, there should be no change from the usual process. Once an item is available to sell, you may process the transaction as normal.

amber.pngCustomer Services

Although the team is currently available between 08:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, we are currently seeing a very large volume of calls which is resulting in increased wait times. For account approvals or withdrawal requests, our team is working through the applications from the date which they were received. For non-urgent enquiries, please use the contact form and our team will respond as soon as possible.

This page is regularly updated so please check back regularly for the latest information.

From the team at The Royal Mint, we thank you for your ongoing support, understanding, and patience in these uncertain times.

Dear New Zealand Mint Bullion Customers,

The New Zealand Government has issued a directive that all non-essential New Zealand businesses must close for an initial period of four weeks in order to suppress the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus. The shut-down will take effect from 11.59pm Wednesday, March 25th 2020 and will be reviewed at the end of the initial period. The New Zealand Mint premises will close at 4pm Wednesday, March 25th 2020 and we will not be able to arrange dispatch or physical collection of our product or safety deposit access for the duration of the Level 4 Alert.

You can be assured that any product you have yet to collect will remain safe in a secure vault and is fully insured during this period.

Our staff will be working from home and answering emails during this time. They will be able to offer limited trading in a reduced range of products.

All the team at NZ Mint wish you and your families the best during this extraordinary time and we look forward to serving you in person again when the lockdown is ended.

Maybe Adele at Coin Connection got some early info given the amount of business Coin Connection do with RM.

As an aside, given the advanced stage we are at with everything (Financial/Virus /Stocks/$Trillions being pumped in/No PM stock/Mints and Mines closing) are PM’s seriously struggling to get enough thrust to overcome the gravity of the situation?

Hope I’m wrong and we are just in the being transported to the launch pad stage.
