Designs of Rounds and Bars

JMTech

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am fairly new to collecting silver and gold but slowly learning more and more.

I just wanted to know if anyone had or knew of a datesheet/pdf or book ect... That I could look against to see the different designs/series of rounds and bars.

For example, I only found out today that some 1oz Canadian Maples have some different markings to the bottom left of the leaf, like snakes, wolfs ect... 😂 👌

Cheers, JMTech

I really wish someone would publish a book on all the different bars out there, two volumes cast and minted, with the amount of information on this forum and the world wide web I reckon a good one could be made for all us collectors, there is many good books done on silver bullion coins but nothing for us bar collectors.

FYI, those are 'privy marks'.

That's why you bring out future editions, they have done them for bullion coins which have many 100's of releases each year, where bars are usually the same year in year out especially the cast ones.

Do you by any chance happen to know if there is a book dedicated to Britannias? I know there are a good selection about sovereigns, but I've never liked sovereigns so have never bought any and will never buy any, but since relocating to the U.K. I've developed a soft spot for both gold and silver Britannias, mainly to see if there are any I'm missing from my collection that I don't know about.

RM used to do a book on the Britannia. Don’t know if it was a annual thing or if they even still sell it. Maybe worth looking.
