Where does it say £800? I can't even find the page for it on the RM website. Anyone have a link?

So it's a normal sovereign with a portcullis mark for £800 . Not good value for money

It actually makes the gold 50p better value... shame the design is just terrible.

Thanks. Wow, like others have said £500 quid extra for basically a privvy mark. Interesting...

Is that mintage considered low, or no?

For a strike on the day not really, most of the modern ones are more around the 650 mintage mark, with the 2017 SOTD 200th anniversary being 1817 i think due to the year significance. so 1500 is pretty high for recent standards.

So you will be paying 30 for two cupro coins in a posh box. Bit like the Indian Sov they are currently flogging for 400 quid. Nah. Thanks, but no thanks. Zero interest in this. I will be asleep at midnight dreaming of a world where ceramic pigs full of spot price sovereigns live in peace alongside their human masters.

That is a VERY expensive plastic box and coloured piece of cardboard...

You would have thought for £800 the SOTD sovereign would have been in a glossy wooden box.

So.. turns out we ARE paying £300 extra for a pretty box (or, rather, same box with coloured flip).

Its a shite box,and it's better if this bombs or else everything in future is going to be £800/£900 lol
