GOLDSILVER.BE my story - avoid - never use

I have ordered 100 silver coins with https://goldsilver.be/en/ in december 2019. I paid by paypal. I have no ID so couldn't sent them a copy and they told me that they wont sent me my order as they are afraid of me not being me. I asked them to change my order to bank wire transfer and for  refund on paypal. I was waiting for my refund. After few days my order was cancelled as you have to pay them within 4 days. They don't care that I'm waiting for a refund. Then my refund was cancelled.  I asked them for refund  again and it was canceled again. Refunds on paypal are cancelled only if seller doesn't have enough money on their account. I contacted paypal and they said that I will be refunded directly to my bank account by the seller in 3-5 days. I couldn't understand why because of their accent. After 10 days I had to contact paypal again and was told that it was cancelled but this time paypal refunded me and my money were on my account next day.

While I have to pay within 4 days they don't give a s... and it took me 1 month to get my money back or they don't have enough to refund people which is scary. I'm glad that I didn't pay by bank transfer as I have no idea how I would got my money back if something went wrong.

I have ordered 100 maple leafs for 14.59£ at that time, now it cost 15.49£. It was my first ever order and that is why I used paypal. I'm afraid to buy anything now.

Never use them. Avoid.

Thanks for posting but why is this your first and only post so far on here? How can we trust you? You could be from a rival looking to badmouth them (not that I am a huge fan myself).

Fair comments @kimchi 😉👍

It is up to you to decide.

My first post because anyone would like to badmouth them if they went through the same thing.  It's the only thing I can do.

I read some posts here but had no reason to register or answer as I don't know anything.

Everyone starts somewhere and this was my first order.

At least don't use paypal if you don't intend on sending them a copy of your ID.

I have no ID

Please explain?

It's a German company, as far as I know. Don't they shipl straight from Germany, in many cases?

It's a Belgium company. image.png.50f42e8f432bf3f756f78812c6caa791.png

The company appears to be registered in Belgium - granted there is a presence in Frankfurt but the legal entity is Belgian if it is registered there.

It was less than 2000€.

14.59 x 100=  1459£ plus shipping and something extra for using paypal. Can't remember how much as I have only my cancelled bank wire transfer order in my history on their page.

They also only used first names in emails with me which I find pretty odd . Christine/David.

I cant understand how you dont have any id? My seventeen year old daughter has a passport, provisional driving licence, european medical card, bank card and birth certificate.  Most if not all can be used to set up a bank account and paypal, which you have.

You need ID to set them up not to use them.

yes..... Did you throw all your ID away after setting up your accounts?

What do you mean by all? How many do you have?

Haven't you read above that my passport expired?  You can't use birth certificate or bank card as identification in this case. No idea about European medical card never saw one. Not everyone has driving licence.

They changed my order to bank transfer after I asked them to but cancelled it after few days before I received my refund and told me when I asked abut it that I have to pay in 4 days.  I paid within 4 days by paypal I told them and that I was waiting for my refund. I was completely ignored.

You should wonder on how a company like this can't have enough money on their account to refund a small order or why they cancel an order after they agreed to change it to bank transfer and to refunding me.

@Joemm thanks for sharing your experience but I have used GS.be seven times in total paid about 20,000 Euros via Transferwise not had an issue. I prefer European Mint their are some items European Mint not yet competitive enough or don't stock that keeps me going back to GS.be. As long as you are aware of the pros and cons of GS.be (you're not the 1st with story of woe) then GS.be is decent enough European Dealer.

@Joemm if a police officer stops you on the street and asks for your ID, what will you provide?

There are no ID/citizen cards in UK, not like in rest of Europe.

I used gs.be in the past without issues. But had almost the same happened to me when using metalmarket.eu. Ordered, wired the money to their Polish account that is apparently held in sterling. Was automatically converted to PLN when I sent it. Got email saying they will refund me the PLN and asked me to send it in GBP again (when checking the gbp/pln conversion rate it was bang on). So I called them, guy on the phone was very understanding and told me they are aware of the issue and that it happens often! (WTF?). And that he will try to solve it. No comms after that. Then few days later they cancelled the order and blocked my account 🙄 Sent them email with bank acc. nr. asking them to return the money about a month ago. Still waiting...

The Anglo Saxon law system is very different from the European mainland. A cop is seen as a "member of the public" in the UK & USA. "Above the public" in the EU.

You do not need to show ID & identify because they are just asking it. You can insult cops without getting charged. Look up "first amendment audit" on YT in the Uk & USA. Don't try this in EU Europe...

Example UK versus citizins
