If won, the Five ouncer would go straight to @BackyardBullion for a Mega-Gold poured bar! I know, BYB probably won’t touch gold again at risk of contaminating his awesome silver pours and quality assay. But we might be able to still make it worth his while. 😁

Always Winner!!😄

Sacrilege! Break a mirror seven years bad luck, melt down a five ounce Always Winner gold piece (mintage in the world - one!) and...I dread to think! :o

The only 'problem' I have with this is that 24 999 are not going to be Always Winner, in fact from the very start they will be 'Not Winner'. Doesn't sound like a lucky coin to me (I shall stick to my wallet carry of a Japanese 5 yen piece)!

I do like the phrase though and it's already a Silver Forum 'classic' for me after this thread,  I am (semi) seriously considering asking Chris if I can change my username to that, love it! :D

The horseshoes on that coin are upside down! All the luck drains right out!

At least that’s what my grandpa used to say. Always hang em pointed up.

That makes sense to me too, surely they should be pointing to the sky/heavens?

But, around here (south east UK) people do seem to hang them downwards

One look at this round and you know there are more wrongs than rights. 12 letters is better than 13? This is not the first time I've seen Korean companies fudge up a company name, description, etc, and still think that it is ok. They simply were too cheap or lazy to check with an English speaking friend.

So when do these go for sale? Gotta say, I don't know about the legitimacy of this company or if their intent is what they say it is. All we can hope for is that the round is in fact .999 silver.

The coins are already up for sale. And, it is a high quality 999 silver.

12 Letters is better than 13. 13 is an unlucky number. And, I am an English Speaking Friend who have checked. I see no problem with 'Always Winner'. And, majority of people asked had no problem with it.

What or who exactly is the "Royal Korean Mint"?

They are a private mint based in South Korea.

Yeah no problem at all. To clarify the other question, when did your mint start minting?

Royal Korea Mint is a private company. I do not work for RKM. However, I can tell you that RKM have minted for at least 11 years.

You don't work for this company? Then what's your connection with this coin?

Do you work for Coins Today? Is Coins Today the same company as The Royal Korean Mint?

999 Fine Silver = 13 letters

Always Winner = improper English

Like I said before, if people want to buy this then they should, perhaps some folk aren't bothered by it. But I suspect for many in England at least that the poor language is off-putting, and the idea that the only phrase they could use that wasn't 13 letters is "always winner" is clearly a laughable rational.

To put it another way, if there wasn't the gold coin giveaway gimmick, nobody would be interested in this.

The 28/03/2020 is a strange day to have the draw for a lucky coin, especially for an Asian, other than the number 8 being in that date there is nothing special, or lucky to Asian's about that date, having the draw on the 03/03/2020 would of made a lot more sense, it has the number 3 which represents ''life'' in Asian cultures, so the 03/03/2020 would mean double life and be considered a ''lucky day'', or even having the draw on the 08/03/2020, where 8 represents ''wealth'' in Asian cultures, the 3 representing ''life'' in Asian cultures would mean life and wealth, also making it a lucky day to Asians some would say more lucky than 03/03/2020.  I can't understand why for a lucky coin they would hold the draw on a day that isn't considered lucky to Asians, especially since he coin is minted by an Asian mint.

Simple, they couldn't get them ready by then.

As others said, ev for idiot tax is better. If you like throwing ev down the drain so much, why not buy some sovs off me at similar ev?

Because I have a considerable stack of sovereigns, and do intend to stack and collect more gold, as I do much more prefer gold over silver in a retention of wealth or improve my EV as you put it. Of which, I probably have about 85% of my overall PMs in gold. Now to the EV of the coin in question...I guess I am the true idiot having paid about $3 over current prices of standard bullion silver that many are having a difficulty of even sourcing...yeah, I bought these a few months ago, when there was not the larger demand for silver...but I wanted to and thought these were an interesting with a conversational type coin. Also, with the ever so slightest possibility of winning a 5 oz gold coin, I have p!$$ed more money away on a fast food lunch. So with that...“Always Winner” from an “Always Idiot”!

How much did you pay and what was intrinsic value at the time?

$29 each...intrinsic value of $29 at the time. If you are talking spot price of silver it was $17.50. I suppose I should be applying EV, intrinsic value, market analysis, objective qualitative calculations for every single PM purchase I make...since I am evidently an idiot for buying said coin at $11.50 above spot at the time.

Now if we can keep to the theme of said thread...anyone have any indications of The Royal Korea Mint drawing for the 5 oz gold coin? Or is it truly a scam?

The theme is this coin. If you paid a 65% premium (or bought at an EV of -40%) I can't see that being a shrewd purchase.

Fair point. Not a shrewd purchase...didn’t care if it was a shrewd purchase or the intrinsic value of the coin. I thought it was interesting and seeing as I don’t like to unnecessarily gamble this at least had some base value of silver with a very slight possibility of winning a 5 oz gold coin.

Off topic...do you have any gold sovereigns for sale at or below spot?
