A lot of fun for just £20! 5 Kopeck Russian coin - 1781

Recommended Posts

I'm a bit late posting this - I picked this up at CoinEx 2019 just over a week ago.....

I was looking for a reasonable 1799 "cartwheel" two penny coin, and stumbled across this (not-so-little) gem that caught my eye!

By strange coincidence, the Russian 5 Kopeck coin is roughly the same diameter, thickness and weight as a cartwheel, and for the princely sum of just £20, I just had to have it - a real piece of Russian history, nearly 250 years old and dating all the way back to the era of Katherine the Great for a measly twenty quid :)
