Rectangular Dragon-Perth Minth-2020 question

Recommended Posts

Nothing mentioned on Perth Mint website http://www.perthmint.com/forthcoming-releases.aspx and cannot spot anything on LPM new arrivals (usually they let the cat out of the bag) https://www.lpm.hk/silver/new-arrivals.html

I am stacking these so I do keep an eye out for the release but I have not heard anyone mention anything so far.

Thank you for the info @Abyss.

I think it's a little bit weird with so much announcements of the 2020 releases already and none from these ones in specific. I hope they have not be cancelled for some reason as I  collect them and IMHO they are beautifull!

I'm also a fan. I buy one tube of each year.

1. Not many 1 oz government issued coin bars out there

2. Nice designs

3. Limited mintage

4. Premiums not too high

5. Well known quality minting company

My first gold was the 1oz 2018 dragon coin bar for this reason.

Breathtaking beautiful pictures of great coins

Thank you for posting!

I got also one  Silver Coin 2018 in Proof, for the golden one with only 188 mintage I must look for

I like @StevenDS idea of buying a whole tube for each year. I need more 2018's.

Not much appreciation here, alas, very disappointed for such a lovely design - I will probably pick up a third successive tube (if the premium's not huge, like the first two years) but the first one the quality was dreadful on the ones I received (sealed tube but all dings and black spots in the exact same places on all the 'coins'). I didn't even bother opening last year's to look, just stored it away. Stupid from the Perth Mint but they always seem to fail with straight bullion, we expect it on the Roos but not on things like this (at least I don't), and such a shame on what should and deserves to be, imvho, a premium product.

No idea how/if it will affect the gold but I must say those have looked glorious from the start imo, wish I had/could afford those! :)

I remember someone was selling a 2018 gold proof version on here for £1250 early this year. I regret not buying it.

I'd love a little stack of gold 2018 bars.

Same here! I’m not a big fan of 1oz gold bars security sealed in plastic. However, the Perth Mint’s unsealed rectangular dragon coins are a wonderful exception to the rule.

@Draconicus

Unless it gets leaked/promoted, check back with me Feb/April 2020 (omg 2020)
It looks like Perth Mint tables a motion for authority with the senate around then.

with the final document in June.

I saw someone on the forum posted a 'wanted' post for a full tube of 2018 silver BU Rectangle Dragons. I'm not letting mine go just yet. Started looking online for dealers who have them in stock, in order to get a good idea of current pricing. I haven't found a single dealer who still has 20 (full tube) in stock. I only found Münzdachs who only has 5 coins in stock and selling at €23.95. None of the other European dealers I know has any in stock.

Does anyone else know a dealer who has these in stock?

I have had the same issue trying to find some 2018's at a decent price.

I have a full 2019 tube I got on group order and have been picking up 2018 bars here and there to fill a tube, the most I have paid is £19 delivered. Still 8 short on the 2018's.

I pick them up from Facebook silver groups

Can you recommend a few silver facebook groups please. This is an unknown source of selling/buying to me.

Hi guys,

As tittle says, any one know when it is supposed to be released the new 2020 Dragon? Or if it's already known the new design?

Thanks in advance.

No real photos yet but definitely a 2020 dragon bar for the collection

Bullionbypost used the 2019 design indeed. However they do mention an expected delivery date November 2019 for the gold. Also incorrect I assume given there is no design released yet for a pre order.

Anyone knows in which month the previous designs (2018/2019) were released? And in which month they were delivered both for gold and silver BU versions.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new design. I hope they reintroduce the detailed scales that existed in the 2018 version and maybe tweak the design to be less cartoony compared to the 2019. I prefer the 2018 design the most so far but I realise some may disagree.

Who knows maybe it won't be a dragon at all! Maybe a phoenix or tiger. That would be inline with perth mint designs they done in the past.
