I have this round and cant find any information about it anywhere. I've only done a magnet test and ice cube test to see if it's real 999 silver and it seems to pass both but I don't know how accurate those tests actually are. Any info would be greatly appreciated

I think it commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Midway, June 4-6 1942.

It was minted in 1992 and weighs 2oz.

judging by your attitude and the fact your only activity is on this post in the month you have been a member, you have stumbled on a coin and just want to know if you have hit the jackpot, and you are getting a bit arsy when no one can help you

I want to know as much as I can. I've done research and have found nothing hence why I'm asking for other people's input. Who made it? Someone kindly mentioned there was a mint mark, so I've blown up the pic to see if anyone knows as I don't know a lot about silver or coins or rounds etc. No need to be rude.

What you talking about my attitude. I bought the coin for my grandad and want to know information from people who would probably know more than me. I left it a month and got no responses so have bumped it 1 month later.

Thanks, That's who I bought it from but they unfortunately don't have any information on it. From what I've found out the best way to check for real 999 silver would be specific gravity test which I have done and I'm happy it's real and I'm happy the price I paid for it. I'm not thinking I've hit the jackpot or made loads of money. It was a gift for my grandad as he collects various war coin. I just wanted to know some information about it as I can't find anything online. It would be nice to know who made it, for many reasons. I wasn't trying to offend by calling you silver experts. If I wanted to offend you I'm pretty sure I could come up with something more offensive lol

I couldn't find anything about it but then it was only a cursory look and I'm certainly not an expert.

I see it two ways.

It's something very rare and worth a great deal or a low mintage round from an obscure mint and worth spot.

My hunch is that it's the latter.

All this is irrelevant of course as it's a gift. As yet, its provenance is uncertain

OK np thanks for looking for me, its probably the latter. Tbh i like the whole round, the font everything and was hoping they made more similar ones. Closest I can find were some midway rounds from hawaiian mint but there just not quite the same.

There is no mint identification that is known here - i think it is a V inside a circle - assuming it is silver i expect it is worth the silver and if any more then that would be b/c the buyer is a collector of the event, WWII etc and is willing to pay more. There are other rounds dealing with this battle - there are a huge number of rounds about everything under the Sun. It is pretty good artwork and an interesting design. That searches aren't throwing anything up suggests the numbers minted were small and from a little known mint. The price on ebay is a fair price for a 2 oz round, which is an unusual weight.

OK thanks I think maybe a letter 'k' inside a circle rather than a 'v'. yes I've seen many other midway coins, I have found a similar design that also do similar coins so will buy from them if I can't find out the maker of this one.

There have been thousands of commemorative generic rounds produced since 1992 (50th anniversary 1942) and thousands before. A coin store would give you under spot. I don't know of a book that identifies generic rounds or bars. There are people who collect them, if you put it on Ebay you'll get what the market will bear and value. Your granddad will treasure it because it came from you, be happy with that.

Yeh thanks. I've already gifted it to him. I want to know who made it so I can buy more from them. I know how much I paid for it I'm not interested in opinions of it's value, literally just info about this specific round.

Found it. It was made by the Royal Hawaiian Mint in a six coin 50th Anniversary Commemorative Proof series "battle of Midway". 342,041 were made total. Your particular round was the 2nd rarest with only 42,300 made. The complete set went for $3,800 in mint condition 8 years ago.
