Hi what is the date of the 50 pesos? Is it a restrike? Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your comment and good question.

It is a restrike meaning that it is one of the four million coins that were minted between 1949 and 1972 and they are all dated 1947.

The 1821 number on the lower left of the obverse commemorates the year of Mexico's independence, so 1821 is not the mint year nor is 1947 on the lower right of the obverse, so the mint year can be anything between 1949 and 1972.

but non of that really matters  because as I'm typing I am selling this coin for under spot price  and whoever buys it, only pays  for the gold content of the coin and absolutely no premium or shipping fee on top of that.

Hatton Garden metals are asking for £1370 for the exact same coin.
