Dispatched Within Five Working Days (?)

Does anyone who has bought coins from Atkinsons online have any explanation why a few coins, especially foreign ones, are marked as being “Dispatched within five working days”? Why the specific 5-day delay for these particular coins when they are evidently in stock?

All I can think, is that they are actually NOT in stock, but are sourced from a certain supplier.

Sometimes uncommon coins are also kept offsite storage

Could be that they like to limit their trips to the post office to say 1 or 2 times a week...

They won’t be queuing at a post office.  They will have daily collections from their premises, probably Royal Mail and any couriers they might use.

Ok so they like to do there packaging and paperwork, on set days.

However i suppose that depends on volume of postal sales, if they have a high turnover then maybe they do p&p everyday.  In which case then they are sourcing stock that they are listing as goldmember44 pointed out.

It could be something like a disclaimer. I would say within 5 days  is not too bad. I have seen me waiting 3-5 wks at times. with another well known company.

I have a daily (Mon - Fri) Royal Mail collection for my business.  Some days we will only send 20 or so small items but it still gets collected every day.  The collection service is free due the annual amount we spend on postage.  Couriers can be booked for same day collection.  It makes no sense to only dispatch a couple of days a week when it’s so cheap and easy to dispatch every day, particularly when customers want everything yesterday.

I reckon remote storage is the more likely reason and they just need time to retrieve it from the off site lock up, which perhaps they only visit a couple of times a week?

I’ve bought from Atkinson’s when they’ve stated “awaiting new stock”. They took the payment there and then. About a month later I received an E-Mail “your order has been dispatched”. It arrived and I was happy.

I reckon they have adopted a blanket policy across all sales outlets - it would tie in with this.
