The Royal mint IMHO is in 5th gear taking the p--s at the moment, no offence to anyone who likes this, I do myself but for about £50 not £245.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

There is that word, “unique” again....basically it is a drawing for £245. Nothing to do with silver and best not to think of it as such. They are just finding new ways to add price through perceived value just like any other retailer now.

This made me laugh. A few months ago I was phoned by the Mint in response to my expresssion of interest. They told me to chose the frame I want and that I would then have to pay the full amount. I was told that the framing timeline was a number of weeks (I think it was six) and that the money would be refunded and then taken again when the parcel was posted.

I asked about whether it made more sense to just take a deposit as I didn’t want money coming in and out of my account like that. They said if I wanted the print and coin this was the only way and that I should act fast.

As soon as they said I had to act fast I declined. That was a good call as I see that they are still for sale and I note the point raised by @MickB re the ‘gold’ design. It’s ridiculous. Not just the terrible design and approach to selling but the fact they are asking that amount for a 1oz bit of silver and a irrelevant print.
