Hand Poured 999 Gold is a go!

So, this week I have been subtly sharing some black and white photos of a very pretty bar. That is because the colour is not your usual white metal!

Courtesy of @Lr103 I have been experimenting with pouring gold!

A video of the whole experience will be out tomorrow and I will share it with you all here.

Here is the very first attempt....

Not so good, so I chopped it up and tried again!

And here is the bar fresh from the furnace....

My leaf stamp compliments the ripples perfectly!

2.24 oz of 999+ gold!

We have sent it up to the Edinburgh Assay Office for hallmarking (likely done by laser!)

And here is a companion bar made to be the same size....but because it is silver it is about half the weight!

Thank you to @Lr103 for putting your faith (and money!) in my skills, I am truly humbled!

I also have the gold pouring bug....so watch this space.....

If only gold wasn't so damn expensive!

Beautiful. You seem to have improved drastically between your first gold pour in the first picture and the second pour!

I'd love to feel how dense it is

There was an in-between pour too, not so good.

It is absolutely mind boggling how heavily it is.

I will be very sad to see it go when it finally does!

@BackyardBullion I actually quite liked the first pour! It was kinda pretty in a wonky way! Excellent work though man this is awesome to see!

Thanks buddy, but I knew I could do better. If it was silver I probably would have kept it, but gold is just so damn expensive! £2300 in gold right there!

Wonder if you'd consider doing a melt and pour service for those of us who have been hoarding 9ct gold.  Goodness knows how much I've got in rings and jewellery.  However bars of 9ct gold sound quite attractive compared to 100 odd rings.  :D

Very nice, such a large amount of gold in one pour is out of my price range though so hopefully we will see some smaller ones in the future :D

Maybe around the 1 oz size, any smaller and it is just too difficult to pour!

Well done bud, I am going to list some gold up soon. From 1g bars to 10 maybe 20g bars.

Only selling to release cash for a gamble in the markets. Still keeping MOST of my Gold, just these bars are always meant for flipping.

I can imagine, I recently sold a 50g gold bar here on the forums because even that was tiny in the form of a bar  I am looking forward to seeing you make some though I think they will be very cool.

@BackyardBullion have you considered pouring lower grade gold (between 9 and 14 carats). This could provide a better ratio of size vs price.

Yes, I have indeed. The issue comes with the way the metal pours. It will come out not as pretty and will need considerable after work to make sure it looks good. You wouldn't get nice ripples on it either!
