Royal Mint Quality Control Strikes once again!

Recommended Posts

Thought this would be a fun thread to show some of the worst failings of the Royal Mint's quality control department.

This was one of my Stephen Hawking Silver Proof coins

Always check your coins thoroughly when you take delivery of them!

Also, if you are buying to flip my advice would be never to list and sell an item before you have it in hand, no matter how tempting the premium returns might be!

Fortunately this is not what happened to me, but I bet there are some very disappointed customers out there!

Here is a Trial of the Pyx 1oz unicorn as received.  It had absolutely no wrapping or packing materials, and was loose in the box.  To their credit, they replaced everything that was damaged quickly, and without questions or additional cost.

Gruffalo silver proof from RM with a fingerprint right across queenies face.  To be fair they swapped it quickly for a perfect one.

Thats just sloppy. I bet its a return just sold on without QC. If its not a return, even more shame on them.

Don't think it was a return, there wouldn't have been time.  This was one of the 2 I got directly from them having queued on release night.  There can't have been enough time for it to go to someone else, then be returned and then sent out again to me I don't think?

That's disgraceful...doesn't look anything like Stephen Hawking!

Holy cr@p! Looks like the folder went through the Trial of the Pyx along with your 1 oz Unicorn! And I thought the folder mine came with was bad (only loose from a staple binding). Good on them for replacing for you.

Yes it does!  I had low expectations of the coin, but not the folder 🙂

They really are tremendous though when it comes to customer service....it's just too bad that the quality control makes it necessary.
