I doubt the buyer thought it was a proof. Anyone bidding for one of these will know what one looks like and it's clear from the photos, coa and description it's only a bullion.

Some people get seduced by  a nice case.

Don't see the problem with these; titles clearly say bullion, not pretending to be proof etc, just in a nice £30 RM case.

BTW I have nothing to do with these sales!😁

OMG I don't own a single proof sovereign in my stack and seen the first photos it was so obvious to me that these were obvious fakes. But it does say

The coin is accompanied by a Certificate  (not royal mint)

So who on earth would bid on these items begs the question......

Talking about horse riders, these two should be wearing bras.

The problem is that many ebay buyers are not as sophisticated in PM matters as the good folk on this forum and will be happy with any coa regardless of it's authority and quality.

A nice RM wooden box is all that matters.

Has anyone here reported this scammer?

clever word plays and weaselly descriptions is still a scam in my book.

If we all report them as I have just done EBay will act

is it really a scam,As i can't see the word proof anywhere and it is stated the coa is not royal mint.

It just says 2017 blah blah in a nice box :)  cost of coin plus £20/£30 for the box or whatever comes kinda close to the selling price.

I do understand what everyone else is saying however.

It’s not a scam in the true sense, there are no false claims.  It’s just creative marketing and a high price for a standard bullion sovereign.  Sadly, people who know no better will be taken in by it.  No crime though, just unfortunate. Caveat emptor.

This seller also has a .co.uk website under the same name selling proof and bullion sovereigns.

There will always be weasel worded sellers on ebay, smoke and mirrors etc.

it is a dangerous place for the naive. Until ebay themselves take these issues seriously, it will continue to be so.
