its proof, the 2017 half had a privy but not the ring around like the other proofs

Hmm... why is it not presented and sold as a proof then? It looks like this is a brilliant uncirculated edition... inbetween proof and bullion.

Images show the type of coin not the actual coin and tbh that's stretching the truth a bit at times with atkinsons.  I've had coins from them that look like someone took a file and sandpaper to them to make them look so worn down so quickly when the picture has been at least almost ef.

That's a fantastic price, seeing that they go for £480 at the Mint. At the same time, it's quite sad for Britannia collectors... for some reason there's not much of a demand for them, or uplift in the secondary market, in contrast with the sovereign range. Even though mintages are now much lower. Having said that, it looks like the 2019 Britannia is popular. I guess it all depends on the design, whether people like it or not really.

Pre-owned though, not worth the risk grading for collectors perhaps, more of a reasonable bullion price?

Yes, who knows it may have some marks... I see it says the condition is "used". But then again, they may have high standards and the coin may be perfectly fine. But as you say, not for someone who intends on having it graded, hoping for a 70.

I may be wrong (only ever bought bullion from them, and very happy there every time) but I get the impression Atkinsons are usually quite clued up (? - longer term/more knowledgeable members will have a far better idea there). However, it could well be one that NCS could work their 'magic' on if there are only minor issues. Even if not, it's certainly a deal at current spot!

Off-topic (soz!), but long-term I see the Brit proofs very possibly doing quite well eventually off the back of increased worldwide interest in Sovs. It's not a series I've bought into at all myself, but one I hope does well for everyone who has :)

One has to admit these mintages are very low, comparatively speaking. If the Britannia series ever gains interest from collectors in the US, or even China or elsewhere (and it might...) then only a handful of potential collectors would be able to complete their date runs, and likely fight over the available coins in the market.. driving up prices a lot. But I'm really speculating now. :) Actually, to a certain extent the same holds true for modern sovereign proofs...perhaps even more likely.

I know folk on here (and some who may be seen as Youtube 'pumpers' on other coins) who are rather quietly hoovering up top condition Brit proofs in the hope (a reasonable bet imvho) of just that! It's a bit out of my comfort zone though so I haven't dipped in. With current spot though if you're looking at a 1/4 Oz gold purchase it's certainly worth a punt I reckon, don't think they will hang around too long at Atkinsons!

Does anyone know where is selling the cheapest bullion coins at the minute?

Just started collecting. I saw an eagle coin on the paper today for £279.99.

Thoughts on it cheaper elsewhere. Or maybe the 2019 Sovereign anyone know the cheapest place I could purchase?

Thank you

Info came to light - last night in chat - - you can only get a few per household but free postage and 23.60 cheaper than RM right now - try here - - - - >>>

Knowing Atkinsons it is probably marked before it's so cheap.  I wish they'd show the actual coin especially when they charge well over spot.
