Newbie here, alright I'm going to ask a stupid question. Why is it pink? Contains a lot of copper perhaps?

They are not that colour in hand, for.some reason their photos online always look like that. While they do contain copper, it's not as bad as it looks on the website.

Any thoughts on the 2019 brilliant uncirculated in Matt finish, I'm thinking of buying? But am unsure will it make sense as when selling to get back what you paid. I of course understand no one has a crystal ball.

I've been having a closer look at the design of the coin and while the obverse is quite nice, with lots of detail, I think the reverse is appalling.
Unlike other BU sovereigns this one is more like the bullion coin for detail rather than the proof. I don't like the engraving of George, his torso and leg are far too angular and unnatural, and his head and helmet are too flat.
It would be ok if it were a bullion coin but for the premium it's a poor show.

I would start withjust regular bullion sovereigns first to get a feel for it all. Jumping straight in to a large premium coin that might well lose you money might not be the best way to start. I would very much advise you to tap on the link provided above which will take you to the thread where wise veteran heads have discussed this particular coin.

Just tap on the picture above.

Is this going to be a frikkin annual affair now? Like the plain edges and the piedforts? There’s no end to the variations. It looks okay but there’s no reason for it. I suppose I’m rather put off by the Sovereign at this point 😑

Just be selective.  You do not have to buy everything.  No one will ever have a complete collection of sovereigns, and once you are relaxed about this, then collecting can be fun again.

That is true. But it’s just the fact that the Sovereign seems to me to be less iconic because of the numerous variations that are deliberately being thought up every year now.
