Scratching

If you could pack them tightly it would be okay, but stored freely within that treasure hoard would damage them and diminish the value.

What about taking junk silver coins? Circulated and scratched already with little to no numismatic value?

If you really want to enjoy the feeling of jingling them, you can make the informed decision to have them scratched.

I have some dedicated coins to play around with and I accept that these may only be worth melt after a couple of years (no problem if silver rises).

Maybe take a handful and 'sacrifice' them for fun?

But I would avoid storing all your bullion rounds like that.

Thanks guys it’s nice to talk to people with similar interests i think having dedicated playing coins is brilliant idea I have decided to separated l the pre 47 junk silver form thee bullion and put all of half sovereigns in wallets and all my lunar seires rooster bullion in capsules but have decided to leave the eagles out on the top with some other bits of silver tat as I don’t mind them getting a bit scratched because of there mat finish the scratches don’t look too bad but still not sure tell me what you think all the best

P.s in the picture All the other coins in the big chest underneath the top layer of eagles are in capsules

I have added silica gel packs in mine, just to try and minimise toning but I have accepted that it could tone although most of the coins I have left on my desk exposed to the elements (for over a year) with no issues. Therefore, hoping in the 'treasure chest' it will minimise/further prevent any future ill effects! 🙈
