What happens after Brexit?

The golden question.

Who knows. If it is no deal fall off the cliff then I won't be doing any more until we get things straightened up with import duty. The last thing I want is to arrange a £30,000 order and then get a letter from HMRC saying please can they have 20% more.

Getting the feeling more and more that SWHTF very soon either way, this has been an absolute joke of a procession with this government, which reminds me, i better renew my passport next month 🤨

What about driving to europ and bringing back the silver?

If you are doing it and not declaring it then that is smuggling technically isn't it?

No deal -> Scottish independence -> independent Scotland rejoins EU -> backyard bullion moves to Edinburgh and takes advantage of VAT free silver and easy access to Edinburgh assay office on his doorstep 😉

If it has a denomination then that is just carrying some cash, isn't it?

Good luck explaining that at the border.

I have seen many different articles online about this, and for the most part it seems that you would not get through with that excuse. They would assign a monetary value on the metal not the value of the coins.

I visit friends and family a couple times a year in Canada and it is always very tempting to fill my bags with silver and try to sneak past but my fear of potentially losing it stops me. You can bring back some and I'd imagine this will be the same for the EU in a no deal scenario but as @BackyardBullion says above trying to convince them it should be valued by the face value just won't fly at least for any bullion coins/bars.

He'll need a Scottish passport first 😉

Don't worry about that, he has 'connections' 😉

Ins't there something like a 10 grand limit on the amount of PMs someone can carry through customs? 10 grand per person, 4 people in the wagon - £40 grands worth would still be legal under those conditions i think

The £10000 limit applies to cash. PM's won't be counted as cash. They will be counted as goods. If you are flying in from outside the EU the current allowance for goods is £390. So you can bring in PM's up to a value (not face value but actual metal value) of £390. Above that you are liable for a charge.
