Backyard Bullion's first craft fair experience!

Thought I would share an interesting experience that me and Mrs BYB shared in today!

We did a craft fair!

Here was our stand

Massive thanks need to go to Mrs BYB who not only sat and helped run the stand all day, but also did SO MUCH to prepare for it!

Check out her hand cut and stitched sign!

She also made the most awesome photo book/portfolio for customers to browse (bottom right of the table).

Now, to the day itself. We knew it was going to be a hard sell today. The average craft fair goer will probably not be looking to spend £50 - £100 on an item (part of the reason we brought some copper rounds along for fun!).

But we wanted to take a chance and experiment with a new avenue of potential sales and customers. The stand was about £50 and probably another £150 for all the other items/crafts we made to make the stand possible.

I am happy to say we had some sales of silver, so it was a successful day, and we also sold a fair few copper coins so we came out feeling pretty good about things.

But the biggest success was how amazingly interested people were about our products. At one point we had a gaggle of people 3 to 4 people deep looking at and talking about our silver. So many compliments on the products and hopefully this will lead to some "after fair" sales. Certainly lots of people were keen on custom made gifts for weddings, christenings and the like.

So, overall it was a very fun day. Was it a money earner? No.

Nevertheless it was fun to talk about my business with people and hear in person the feedback and compliments!

Thought I would share our experience, thanks for reading!

Looks good byb. I like the picture with the blow lamp on. If i was in the crowd id be drawn to that, then id be hooked at the stall !

We had it playing the pouring videos, it certainly was an eye turner and also helped explain what we were all about!

I think your stall would fit in perfectly in the Kelham Island xmas fair in sheffield. Its set in an industrial scene so along the silver pouring theme. A customer of mine ( a pewter ware co ) have a stall there , ill see what they have to say ( sales wise ). Could be worth a look.

Is that a new piece of silver above the Tetris set 🤔😮

Above the Tetris set is my prototype globe from earlier this year. Above the small puzzle board in the middle there is something very special and new which you will find out more about next weekend 😉

I used to do a lot of craft fairs and shows.  Usually had a good laugh at them and loved meeting and talking to lots of people, customers and stall holders.  Unfortunately it got to the point where financially it was no longer worth while and that zapped the fun out of it :(
