Royal Mint survey

Did you guys see the survey that came with the email newsletter about Prince Charles’ 70th Birthday coin range?

It was a link right at the bottom that asked “What is the next big royal occasion that you will be celebrating?

There were a bunch of questions related to which coins are of interest and, especially, related to which occasion.

I gave some very honest feedback saying that they need to stop celebrating every birth, birthday, and anniversary with SotDs :)

I pretty much said the only Royal occasions worth commemorating with special Sovereigns are things like the Queen’s 100th birthday or major coronation/reign jubilees and milestone wedding anniversaries.

I also said they need to celebrate JRR Tolkien on a UK coin 😬

Anyone else answered that survey?

How about celebrating something totally different like the street cleaners, bin men, social workers, teachers, home carers, tradesmen, all the common people that keep the country ticking over but dont usually get any recognition.

I applaud the sentiment, but I will not be buying your bin man coin.

I’m sure you can send in your suggestions through that survey link. Who knows, they might find an interesting way to honour these people too; like the A to Z coins but with a different theme.

Well I honestly used the survey to voice my personal disapproval of the numerous Sovereigns they’ve released in the last two years celebrating every single occasion (including things like Prince George’s 5th Birthday, which, although a joyful event for the family, didn’t really warrant a special Sovereign imo).

And the only suggestion I gave was to celebrate Tolkien on a coin - but that was more of a selfish request because I’m a huge fan and would be first in line to buy it 😬

I would love a bin man coin.. it would be something totally different from contant "year of the... goat, rabbit, moneky, horse, or whatever animal"
