Blast from the past, disappointment ensued

You know how you're always reading about amazing metal-detecting finds, and imagining how great that must feel?

I know the gut-wrenching disappointment when your "gold coin" turns out to be a brass "forgery"!

It was the mid-1960s when, as a young lad, I found this in a field and thought it was something special. Can anyone guess what sort of "golden guinea" this is?

The clue is in the name stamped just below the bust.

I got very excited when my old man gave me one exactly the same ! I've also got another with the same bust and on the back it's advertising a theatre show . Apparently they used to scatter them around the streets so people would pick them up and see the advert . Clever .

That's amazing. I would never have thought of it...
