Hi guys

Im new to the silver stacking game and I would like to hear from some of you veterans.

I have set aside a set amount of £100 a month at the moment to see what I can accomplish.  Therefore my question is if you had this budget what would you recommend purchasing.

I should add im from the uk and understand theres a bit of a premium.

Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Nemo86 there are great offers on the forum 1 being the group purchase and also the group sponsors who can deal silver without the premiums. Still above spot but completely normal. £100 a month is a great budget and will see you pick up some nice bits. I'm sure anyone will help you as best they can.

I originally started at just below your budget. Best bang for your buck is to stack junk silver, often at or just above spot.

Stacks of silver content coins are also fun to play with and the sense of quantity adds to the silver fever ;) Here are a few boxes I am completing currently

Hi @Nemo86 I'm similar to yourself and started stacking last month. I originally was just going to stack for weight (Britannias primarily, because they are the cheapest and CGT exempt). However I've found my self drawn to other bullion coins with a slight premium (up to about £5 premium) because I like them. I figured I may aswell enjoy a variety of different coins, given how low the price of silver is. I think I will revert back to Britannias in a few months when I got a lot of the bullion with a slight premium I like.

Thought I'd share because Im just starting out like yourself, with the intention to solely stack, but the appeal of the shiny stuff is turning me into a bit of a collector too.

Thanks for the advice guys.  Going through the forum here is really giving me the silver bug 😂

Went and bought four bars of 1oz Scottsdale silver out of impulse before joining here.  Gotta learn to control those impulse moments lol.

Loving that :) I have a few .500 silver coins but never really went in on them that much, but may have to re-think that

Collecting a range of different currency coins is much more fun than bullion everyone has lol. Plus you can pick up a few belters for very low prices. I also stack ingots when I get them low premiums.

I love the Indian Rupees.

Will you sell me one @ilovesilverireallydo?

@Nemo86 I started in a similar way a few months ago but with gold. Ca. 100 Pounds per month - what gold coin can I get. I had no clue and got a half sovereign for not too much more. Then I decided to start collecting full bullion sovereigns. Then I thought I should buy silver as well, one month silver, one month gold. In case the silver price is somewhat stable till the next pay check, by the turn of the next month I will own this silver, mostly 2018:

5 Ruanda Dogs
5 American Eagles
5 Britannias
7 Austrian Philharmonics
5 Krugerrands
5 Maples
5 Maples Inc
5 Kangaroos
5 Koalas
5 Kookaburras
5 Somalia Elephants
5 Libertads

1 none numismatic Victoria Jubilee Crown (lots of wear)

3 one ounce bars

1 Brit Luna Dog
1 Queens Beast Unicorn
1 Ark Noah quarter ounce

I wanted 5 each of the last 3 ones as well, but they are not offered any longer at Atkinson's where I order, if I don't buy in a physical shop, so I'll just leave it.

After that I want one tube each of the Britannia, the Austrian Philharmonic, The American Eagle, the Maple Leafe (not before 2018 because of the milk spot issue), Krugerrand and the Perth Mint Kangaroo. After that I I ideally want only one kind of coin, maybe two, not more than 3 as the bulk. Maybe the Britannia because of the taxation, maybe a 0.9999 coin like the Maple Leaf as I think it might be of more value once silver will run out and the industry usually needs 0.9999 as far as I know. Possibly the Philharmonic as I'm from the continent and might go back at some point and it's the most common coin there. Possibly some numismatic coins and one kg bars once I have enough coins. With 100 Pounds a month I would do it similarly but just one of each listed above. I have to admit though, this might be backwards. Probably you should start with the one coin and only diversify once you have a solid stack? But what is a solid stack? Once I can tick off variety, I can concentrate on the one (to three) coin(s) with the occasional (numismatic) coin that is  different.

I agree with the people above who suggested junk silver.  Junk silver rules, it's not super-valuable, it is worn, and worth spot plus a very small premium ... so you can run it through your hands, stack it, play with it, and not worry about decreasing its value at all.  It's also everywhere, at antique stores, garage / yard sales, coin shops, and it's low cost per unit, easy to store, and it has numismatic value if you give it enough time.  I love junk silver in the U.S. and I really enjoy seeing those UK / EU junk silver coins above.

Feel free to PM me whrer you get them from :)

Toning on those looks nice - I like them like that.

I pick them from the kilo loads I buy lol. I often buy up a kilo or two from various places, isolate the nice ones, add to the stack and sell the rest.

Get the cheapest silver you can get your hands on. If that's junk then go with junk. If it's kangaroos from joining in BYB's monthly orders then go with that.

With £100gbp/month you realistically don't need to worry about CGT.

How do you get involved with the monthly group order?
