Coin identification assistance required

Anyone have an idea as to what this coin is ?  I get lots of people handing me coins and asking for info, hopefully a nice 1937 gold proof £5 will come next ?

I have something similar, which I found in a field as a young lad. After much research, I discovered it was French and called a "sous", about the size of a shilling. Apparently, Ludwig is French for "Louis"..

Actually, Ludwig is German. Louis in French is Louis.

However, there is the latinized form "Ludovic". I can't find an English source for this though.
