I still don't understand the 1978 reference?

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

I'm sure if the seller wouldn't object to sending the coin before payment to a TSF "respected" member, it would sell at the right price. PR64 doesn't set the world on fire but it's a decent coin nonetheless. The £800 achieved on ebay wasn't far off the mark but the fees would have been hard to take.

can I ask roughly how much is the realistic price for a 1989 sovereign ?

I'm asking because I see different prices out there.

I guess the short (and unhelpful answer!) is as much as someone is prepared to pay!

I would like this coin too.  On eBay there is a massive spread in the price for this Sovereign, I have seen a recent sale of a raw one for £750 and there is a PF69 currently attracting 24 bidders and it stands at £1000 with over 5 days to go.

Buy-it-now’s range from £800 to around £1500.

In summary, who knows what the true value might be!

For me, I would agree with  @Numistacker, who has made reference to this in a fairly recent video, the 1989 2 Sovereign appeals more in terms of value (and risk) and is the coin I would more likely buy in this year date, I would find it difficult dropping £800 plus on this year date Sovereign.

I own the half Sovereign it was a nice compromise for me.

I’m sure in a few years however, I’ll potentially lament missing out at £800!

Like @sovereignsteve says, I think this particular coin made about the right amount in its unfortunately, failed sale on eBay.  If I didn’t have other priorities, I might well of made @chriswhite90 an offer.

That’s a seller with multiple accounts all that are similar to Osborne

Those Osborne accounts give me the heeby jeebies, i come across them so much in my searches in Ebay but dont feel right to buy!

wrt the OP. I was actually watching that coin originally on ebay when it apparently sold for £800, and then a day later appeared on here as a first post! Seemed odd (but thought probably innocent) but i let @morezone know. Looks like it was a wise decision!

I’ve bought and sold to those accounts with no issues, seems to be a buy cheap sell higher dealer that’s all
