Dealer visit and Interview - Powercoin.it

Howdy all!

In the near future I will be heading to Italy to visit the coin seller, Powercoin!

They are probably the biggest specialist modern collectable coin dealer Europe if not the world and have a huge variety of different types of collectable and rare low mintage coins.

Here is their website https://www.powercoin.it/en/

I have bought quite a few coins from them in the past, always top notch service and quality. I have also been very fortunate enough to get sneak previews of special coins they have comissioned themselves, indeed you will see the latest coin from them on my YouTube channel today (will drop a link when it is live).

Now, I am heading on out to meet them soon and do some promotional video work for them and do an interview in a similar way we did with the Edinburgh Assay Office.

I would love to know what questions any members of the community have for them. Feel free to suggest here or drop me a PM if you want. It will be a very interesting discussion as they are not your regular gold and silver dealer, but a specialist in a very niche market - good opportunities to gleam information on this area for sure!

So let me know what you would like to know!

I have been buying from powercoin.it for a number of years now. Very trusted dealer. Customer service is second to none. They do a redeemable points system that's a plus. Postage takes about a week which is ok to say it's from Italy. I like CIT (coin investment trust) coins and they have a lot in that range.

You can get 10% off this coin if you use the discount code

BACKBULLMONA

For transparency, I do NOT get any comission or payment if you use this code, it is just a discount I have negotiated for all my followers to use if they want to.

Curious as to the pricing of the first coin in the series when it first came out. They have them for sale on their website for 379 euro so was that the original offering price or have they increased that one or decreased the 2nd coin coming out? Thanks

One other observation. If they still have inventory left in the first of the series that would led me to believe the series isn't selling so well.

@Sal, I placed my order of the first coin in February 2018 for €321.95. Perhaps not a coin for everyone, it is more of an artistic piece, but I really enjoy the mosaic designs. Which to your point of the first coin not selling out, may be a reason the Mona Lisa price point is starting at €319.95 (but not that appreciably off from the first Birth of Venus initial sales price).

for that price theirs no way its done by hand

Absolutely! I would be fascinated though to find out how they are done, even with tooling, they must have some incredible equipment and manufacturing process!

Are the tiles Ceramic or Porcelain?

Yes! Also, how are they applied to the 'coin' (both in manufacture and/or adhesively)? I say 'coin' because I know it's denominated but let's be honest it's not really is it?

On a side note I have an oil painting copy of the Mona Lisa that is rather well done (having seen the original they are not poles apart imvho, and you don't have to queue up for hours to look at mine). If anyone knows how to get a valuation on this I'd be very grateful :)

Using  that analogy shouldn't the first coin still be at the price you paid instead of 380 euro?

Questions to ask. I am interested in finding demand for their unique and premium coins in emerging markets. Have they noticed increase in demand from emerging markets over the years?

Do they have any issues shipping to emerging markets (customs/duties)?

How did the manufacturer make Mona Lisa coin did not know that was even possible to do using silver?

Great YouTube video

So we categorize this as a promotional video for powercoin  as well as your website since you will be receiving compensation for powercoin for them advertising on your website. Is that a accurate statement?

I am not receiving any compensation. I am reviewing the coin. They send it to me for free and I make a video. I earn a few dollars in advertising revenue from the video through YouTube as a fun piece to video review, beyond that, nothing.

Powercoin do not advertise on my website either...

Does that make sense?

Not sure why it matters but I hope that clarifies things.

Beautiful mosaic coin. I saw it on their website a couple of weeks ago after watching your old powercoin IFF episodes BYB. One for me to enjoy from afar though, far too pricy for me.

These types of coins are always pricy. But there must be a market for them, otherwise they would not exist.

Just needed clarification that you do have a  financial gain to be made by advertising for Powercoin. Thank you

@Sal if you count a few $ from YouTube as and revenue....

Literally earnt $4 from the last video review of a piece I reviewed for them.

So if that counts as financial gain then yes....I stand to earn a few bucks.
