The Poll will run till Monday and will be part of my next unboxing video as a subject as I am interested in why people invest in silver, If you wish please add a comment if the reason you collect has changed from the reason you started and why.

Thanks.

All votes are anonymous as far as I know (that is what I set it to).

I will start off and to be honest I originally got into silver due to "SHTF" videos that convinced me to, since then its become a Pension plan for me.

Hedging and I quite like the designs... little pieces of art.

I was hoping to get stinking rich as Mike Maloney et al, keeps telling me the whole banking system will fail every other week!!!

This is an interesting thread. i have volunteered to do a short audio on the Kinesis currency system from the perspective of a stacker and a trader.

So far i see 1/3 do it for the love of coins - the numismatic aspect, then 2/3 are doing it as an investment - all things monetary are investment aspects.

Even those doing it for the love of coins and i expect this includes all of us at heart, there is an investment element. i will use this survey, so keep voting.....please. 🙏

Always cast your vote - Spoil your ballot slip. Put 'Spoilt Ballot - I do not consent.' These votes are counted. If you do not do this you are consenting to the tyranny. None of them are fit for purpose.

I am already pretty surprised by the results so far I expected it to be 1 or 2 front runners and the other 3 to be lagging way behind but its all really not that far apart from each other.

the Silver stacking community kind of reminds me of the online gaming community back in 2000 to 2004 when everyone supported each other and wanted each other to do well.

There is something nice about being apart of the community that....  I don't know how to word it, There is not that many groups online that support each other and help each other out as much as you see in the Silver Stackers. I have spent a lot of time in forums about working out, conspiracy theories, gaming, mental health and a few others and they all have a massive chunk of people who seem to enjoy being toxic while in the silver stackers there are very few and what few do turn up get shut down and exposed pretty fast.

These are all related.

Some people say those who get engrossed in conspiracy theories are playing games or working towards serious mental health issues.

Some people like me would say this is no game. Those who cannot see all the conspiracies we are beset with are deluding themselves and when the balloon goes up with will have serious mental health issues to contend with.

I was pretty deep into that stuff, I was a member of the David Icke forums and even went to 2 meet ups to which I met one of my ex girlfriends, The point where I left the forums and my ex was when someone in the forums told her I was an MI6 agent and I was sent to be her "handler", She accused me to using Hypnosis and NLP to brainwash her (which kinnda cut deep because I studied Hypnosis & NLP). At this point I took a step back and wondered just how the hell I got into this stuff. I even met John Harris kudos top anyone who knew who that was. Its a mad world out there and there is a few clowns that somehow avoided the nuthouse.

A good point yet I disagree.

Conspiracy theories are only entertained by those with too much time time on their hands or those who struggle to maintain close relationships with others (sic)

What worries me though is these guys are so clever. I wonder who or what they could be?

There have only been a few handfuls of votes!!

You would need hundreds to even start thinking of any trend imvho!

It was very, very difficult to pick just one answer - I'm into PMs for several reasons:

* Firstly, I like them! Shiney stuff is good :)

* Accumulating a selection of different metals ( in both coin and bar format) has become a part of my longer term investment plan/pension strategy)

* It's a fun, interesting and enjoyable hobby

* The S.F. community has taught me a lot and saved me a lot of money, and being a small part of a very "genuine" and trust-worthy community is a real bonus (and so much more fun than dealing with a financial/pensions advisor!)

My interest in silver started in 2010 when like OP I too thought SHTF was coming from watching a few too many YouTube videos (the internet is the new TV for rotting your brain, choose what you watch and read carefully).

Nowadays it's for financial security. So all three of pension, hedge against fiat, and hopefully make a few bob while I'm at it.

What I never got into is the hobby aspect. I never buy numismatics or anything higher priced than necessary. I get the cheapest, most boring silver I can get my hands on. Eagles Vs Phils? Give me Phils anyday. Current year Vs random years? What do you think! Your silver bar getting a bit dirty? Great, I'll buy it off you!
