First gold purchase, what should i have?

Quarter brit looks a lot nicer to me/more like 'gold' so I vote for that.

I bought one a few months ago and it always impresses me more than my sovereigns when I take it out to have a look.

My first gold purchase were a couple of Sovs which I still have so I would vote Sov but as a more seasoned buyer I would buy whichever offered the most gold for my cash... if you don’t mind me asking where are you thinking about buying from??

Get an older bullion sovereign if you can, much nicer colour, has history, possibly some numismatic premium depending on condition if you are lucky.

Spot on if you can afford to pay a little more or sometimes a lot more than newer coins. The older Sovereign has character and some have escalated in price and hold the premium exceptionally well.
