Would I be cynical in thinking the nugget didn’t actually come from that river and this is just a ploy to boost tourism to the local area

I'm actually a little annoyed at this find! I'm planning to go panning in August when I go home for a week, now I might have competition!

I just read that it was actually found 2 years ago but kept quiet until now!  So there’s nothing left because they’ve had 2 years all to themselves to have a good look
