Just got an email from the RM re the paddington coins saying:

We are pleased to announce a maximum mintage* of 75,000 for each silver Proof coin design.

They must have heard the complaining about the unlimited mintage and thought they had to do something. Still a large mintage though.

The star after maximum mintage looks a bit dodgy to me .

*Maximum Coin Mintage (MCM) is the maximum number of coins that will be issued. Limited Edition Presentation (LEP) is the maximum number of coins, presented in this specific style, that will be issued.  The LEP for this product is 60,000.

I only just spotted today that the RM has sold out of the first gold release...not a particularly promising start (especially as the total mintage practically doubled to 1250 overnight, and there surely will be a double 'limited presentation issue' when the second one comes in Aug).

However, I do think on the gold this one will do OK (at least retain premium, unlike most Royal Mint stuff).
