Recommended Posts

Hi,

Apologies if this has already been posted, if so please feel free to delete, but on the RM Facebook page the 2018 Paddington Bear 50p coin seems to have slipped out into the wild.

Not sure if I like the design, but I think it will be popular so I’ll be placing a cheeky order!

Also if you’re an absolute nut bag and need it a couple of weeks before it’s offically released then go crazy on this £100+ starting auction:

(Even has a reserve ?)

Dont commit until you've seen the new Captain Cook £2 coin..  I've just picked it up in Silver - looks stunning.  Wish I could afford the gold.

Nope not for me unless captain cook is hiding a marmalade sandwich under his hat

I'm under orders to get a Paddington - from someone who doesn't really understand my obsession with coins.  She's also getting interested in Beatrix Potter 50p's. There is a quandry though, do I get her the cupro-nickel and a proof for me (until she understands the beauty of silver)?

For how greedy that persons being I hope so! I could have accepted trying to flog it for a higher margin than what 50p’s go for, as I’m sure they’ll be a person who MUST have it. But trying to start at £100 is just taking the p***

Just buy them all, including the insanely priced gold version they’re also bound to release with it ?

I intend to buy a couple of Proofs. One for me and one for the little man when he’s old enough to start his own collection...that’s if they don’t go crazy quick.

I figure it's always worth over delivering, especially if it's someone important in your life. Bonus points if you do it without drawing attention to it, so that they only realise later... Cooler than walking away from an explosion without looking

It's a bit of a piss take from the royal mint for the people that shelled out on the 2018 proof sets , the list of coins that were not included in those sets is growing all the time , RAF , Paddington , Captain cook ,  I am rapidly losing interest in the royal mint as they are flooding the market with too many coins imo .

It's a real problem, like the US mint plumbing for diminishing returns and actively reducing collectability
