Insurance

Recommended Posts

I think it's essential. I've got mine insured but the underwriters want all coins mounted, apparently so you can see if one goes missing. This means, according to them, they won't cover coins in tubes and boxes. Also they need to be stored in a rated safe. I get the safe but if anyone knows of an insurance company that's a bit more relaxed about how you store in a safe then I'd like to hear too.

Safe Deposit Boxes come with insurance, normally the first £10k is included as standard in your rental price in the first year and more £ coverage can be purchased if required.

My box is £150 per year, just less than £3 a week and you can keep other bits n bobs in your box to password USB sticks, hard drives, crypto wallets, cash, watches, jewellery, passport etc

Good for gold, not so good for silver

Just a bit of info in case it helps anyone: Metro Bank specifically said their safety deposit box contentd are not insured since they don't know (don't ask) what's in them. They also said you must not store cash in it.

Correct as at February 2018.

My box is with a private vault and insured. I didn't realise metro bank didn't offer insurance cover though

Thanks for the info blockhead
