Any news on the delivery to you, BYB?

Update tomorrow most likely - not to spoil the surprise but we might be a little delayed.

Blame the Royal Mint.

Bet its those 2 dragon coins. I had an order placed with a dealer in germany and added one of these as it was the first place I saw them. Only just had the order shipped today when placed 6 weeks ago, all due to this 1 coin being slow to arrive to the dealer.

I am awaiting specifics but I think this is the culprit for our order too

Hello everyone

Quick update - more to come tomorrow most likely.

The coins are not here yet. There have been delays in delivery from the Royal Mint.

Yes the irony is not lost on me that we are waiting for coins to be delivered to Estonia only so that they can be shipped back to the UK!

So, by the best estimates we are now going to work towards a different schedule.

I am expecting delivery later NEXT week which means that you can expect your coins at some point in the week commencing 21st May.

Sorry for the delays, there really is not much I or the EU mint can do. Hopefully there won't be any further delays but if there are I will communicate them here.

It does make me think about how we might run these group orders in the future. This is not the first time that orders have been delayed (it has happened from both GS.be and EU mint) because of coins being released late. It might be a better course of action to work around certain release dates and build in some time and expectations of delays.

I will have a think - anyone else got ideas?

The only solution I can see is to only order what is in stock.

This will cause its own issues, do people hold back until the last minute to see if the pre release coins have come into stock therefore inundating @BackyardBullion with loads of last minute orders?

If people hold off will coins they have an eye on sell out?

Not too sure of the financial implications if people put in 2 or 3 separate orders, eg transferwise costs?

I think it makes sense to only take orders on coins that are  in stock, as we have seen when they expect delivery this can be delayed. So for instance I want some coins from GS.BE but am waiting for the next group buy. some of the coins I want are due this month but unless they are in stock when I order then I cant order them, if they come in stock before the end of the GB then i can add them on, otherwise I have to wait to next month.

I would think thats the fairest solution all round so 1) we dont hold up other peoples orders (and being someone that ordered some dragons, im very sorry to everyone else!) and 2) dont create mad influx or more work for BYB who kindly organises these. Also, with the delay now looking towards the end of the month, does that mean we now dont do a May GB as its going to be too much for BYB to deal with... have to take his hard work organising this into consideration i think.

I really dont want two orders open at once.

When this order is finished we will open up a new order which will probably be the "June" group order.

More to be discussed and arranged, but that seem the best option.

For me it's not a massive issue waiting another week or two. We've already paid our money and as exciting as it is recieving PM's in the post, it's not like you can really do much with the silver once you have it (except stroke it and call it "my precious", if you're that way inclined...)

Yes I expected that to be the case, it was more to highlight the point that if things like this happen, they can effect future orders so if only order in stock items, it will hopefully reduce the chance of issues :)

I agree.

But as @kiskelo pointed out some coins might go out of stock before their official release date ?

I can't work out whether this delay is for real or if its a diversionary tactic while you pack your Barbados 40 kilo baggage allowance. :D

It is an awful lot to package up ?

As a beneficiary of your nifty footwork with the Anniversary Elephant, I think this is a valid point.  I don't think we should be too dogmatic about the "only if it is in stock" rule.  But it should be up to you whether you make an exception to it.

OK who ordered the dragons? :D

The next problem I foresee is that people will order 2 months of Silver in June's group buy, thus having poor BYB having to deal with TWICE the last orders amount of silver. This could, in time, become an exponential problem...

Blimey what an incredible hassle for BYB's planning.

For whatever it's worth I don't mind waiting - when it turns up it turns up for me (so feel free to send mine off in the last batch). But I can understand others hoping for their coins sooner rather than later, and my schedule's more flexible than most given a few days' notice, I can imagine some would ideally have a rough idea (not least the BYB household!).

Would it be uneconomic/more trouble than it's worth simply to have a second delivery of all the late coins? The postage saving would be nowhere near but still not huge on e.g. 69 coins. Just a thought, it's got to be whatever works for BYB imho.

The problem also lies with other royal mint products in the same shipment to EU mint. The 10 Oz dragons primarily but I would imagine bsone other varieties too.

I did ask about splitting it but it is not really practical to do.

So many different individual people have ordered either of these coins that I would end up with more than half of everybody's orders waiting in my house for another few weeks. As confident as I am in my own security systems I would prefer them to be sat in the vaults of the EU mint, which by the way are pretty substantial ?
